How to boost breast milk if breast milk is insufficient

How to boost breast milk if breast milk is insufficient

One of the things women fear most during breastfeeding is that their milk is not enough for their baby. Therefore, during breastfeeding, many women will eat a lot of food that can help with milk production, but they still have insufficient milk. When the milk is insufficient, you can boost milk production so that the baby can grow more healthily with sufficient milk. So how do you boost milk production when you don’t have enough breast milk?

90% of pregnant women worry about whether they will be able to breastfeed after giving birth. Then the worries of pregnant mothers are indeed necessary. 70% of mothers encounter problems such as difficulty in milk production, insufficient breast milk, and mastitis after giving birth, which is really miserable.

1. Frequent breastfeeding

After the baby is born, the mother should start breastfeeding in time. The baby should be fed half an hour after birth, regardless of whether there is milk or not. This is achieved by stimulating the breasts, increasing physical energy and stimulating secretion, thereby achieving the purpose of early milk production. If you want to have enough milk, it is best to breastfeed.

2. Keep warm

It is now late autumn and early winter, and you must keep warm after giving birth during this season. If the body is cold, blood circulation slows down, the blood in the breast swollen glands will decrease, and it will be difficult to secrete milk. If the weather is cold, the mother can apply a hot towel or soak her feet in hot water half an hour before breastfeeding, which will greatly increase the milk supply. In autumn and winter, don’t wear short socks anymore. Wearing long socks can protect Sanyinjiao from cold.

3. Get enough rest

Pay attention to rest after delivery. The mother needs to feed the baby at night. If the sleep quality is not good, make up for it at noon. Adequate sleep can increase the secretion of prolactin, which is beneficial for increasing breast milk production.

4. Drink water, drink more water

The secretion of breast milk requires a lot of water, and the body is weak and sweats a lot after delivery, so it is important to drink plenty of water after delivery. Up to 85% of breast milk is water, and milk secretion will definitely be difficult if you are dehydrated. After delivery, drink at least 2 liters of water every day, preferably 3 liters.

5. Eat a healthy diet

Mothers with insufficient breast milk can eat more root crops, such as potatoes, carrots, sweet potatoes, lotus roots and other vegetables. These crops are beneficial to increase milk secretion after delivery.

6. Iron supplement

There is currently no clear answer to where breast milk comes from. But more people believe that breast milk is the product of blood being transformed into milk through the mammary glands, so iron supplementation becomes even more important. After delivery, you can eat some lean meat, plums, oysters and other foods, which can supplement iron and prevent the occurrence of postpartum anemia.

7. Relax

Many mothers suffer from postpartum depression due to lack of knowledge about infant care and frequent breastfeeding problems. Depression is the biggest enemy of breast milk secretion after childbirth. Many depressed mothers have less and less milk, and eventually stop producing milk early.

Everyone's physique is different, and the time and amount of milk secretion are different. As long as the mother insists on breastfeeding and lets go of her nervousness, the milk supply will gradually increase. Believe in yourself, you can do it.
