Ligaments of the uterus

Ligaments of the uterus

In fact, the uterine ligaments in the female body are part of the uterine appendages, and the main function of the uterine ligaments in the body is to fix the uterus. There is more than one uterine ligament in the body. Most women have four uterine ligaments. Of course, these four uterine ligaments also play different roles. The following article will introduce to female friends the specific functions of the uterine ligaments inside the uterus.

1. Round ligament of the uterus: The round ligament of the uterus is one of the ligaments that maintain the position of the uterus. It starts from the outer upper corner of the uterus, which is the head of the fallopian tube, enters the inguinal canal through the inner thigh, divides into many fiber bundles, and ends at the mons pubis and the upper end of the labia majora. The main function is to maintain the anteversion of the uterus, fix the vaginal opening, and deliver nutrients to the labia majora. Therefore, the round ligament must be done first to close the vaginal opening. The first step is to dredge the gallbladder meridian on the inner thigh, then dredge the two muscles at the anus, lift the labia majora, and the Bartholin's glands.

2. The broad ligament of the uterus, also known as the pubic ligament: one of the uterine ligaments. On both sides of the uterus, it is wing-shaped and divided into two layers, the front layer of the broad ligament covers the round ligament of the uterus, and the back layer covers the ovary. There are blood vessels, lymphatic vessels, nerves and connective tissues between the two layers. It can limit the lateral displacement of the uterus, prevent uterine prolapse, and treat urinary incontinence, cervical prolapse, cervical deviation, vaginal suction, pelvic closure, and pubic closure.

3. Cardinal ligament of the uterus: One of the uterine ligaments, the thickest part located at the broad ligament of the uterus is called the cardinal ligament, the ligament running horizontally on both sides of the cervix. Its main functions include fixing uterine prolapse and displacement, and transporting nutrients to the vagina and clitoris. It is a ligament that must be used for cervical repositioning, cervical prolapse, urinary incontinence, suction creation, and spiral reconstruction.

4. Uterosacral ligament: One of the uterine ligaments, located at the lower end of the cervix in a spoon shape, composed of smooth muscle and connective tissue, starting from the bottom of the cervix and bypassing the rectum backwards. It is mainly used to maintain the anteversion of the uterus and the normal position of the uterus, and is a ligament that is required for vaginal suction creation, spiral reconstruction, and cervical repositioning.
