What to do if hemorrhoids prolapse in late pregnancy

Hemorrhoids are common during pregnancy. Hemorrhoids can cause anal pain, redness and swelling, which can cause certain pain to patients. Patients dare not sit down, and any movement will cause extreme pain. They should avoid getting angry, not eat spicy food, maintain personal hygiene, take a bath on time every day, and change underwear frequently. Some pregnant women experience hemorrhoid prolapse in the late pregnancy. What should be done if hemorrhoids prolapse in the late pregnancy? Let’s take a look at it next.

1. Check in time

If a pregnant woman has prolapsed hemorrhoids, she must seek medical attention promptly, cooperate with the doctor to continuously observe the symptoms, and follow the doctor's orders for treatment. If the hemorrhoids are prolapsed severely, the doctor may recommend the use of safe topical medications, such as hemorrhoid cream for pregnant women. There are many products on the market for relieving and treating hemorrhoids. Do not choose the medicine on your own. Before using it, ask your doctor whether it is suitable for pregnant women.

2. Pay attention to your diet

Avoid all spicy foods, such as wine, chili peppers, pepper, ginger, onions, garlic, etc. Eat less indigestible food, because excessive intake of indigestible food can easily cause constipation and aggravate hemorrhoid prolapse. You can eat more vegetables and fruits that are rich in fiber and have a laxative effect, such as spinach, day lily, fungus, apples, peaches, pears, bananas, melons, etc. If you have difficulty defecating, you can eat honey or some foods containing vegetable oils, such as sesame seeds, walnut kernels, etc.

3. Drug treatment

You can ask your doctor to recommend a safe Chinese medicine prescription or use 1%-2% soda water for a sitz bath, twice a day after defecation or in the morning and evening, first fumigate and then wash the affected area while it is hot, each time for 15-20 minutes.

4. Keep blood circulation smooth

Standing or sitting for a long time is not conducive to the recovery of hemorrhoids. Pregnant women can walk more outdoors or indoors to help blood circulation.

5. Anal health care

You should do some appropriate anal health care, such as anal contraction exercises. Do the anus-lifting exercise 10 to 30 times a day, that is, consciously contract the anus, which can enhance the strength of the pelvic floor muscles and blood circulation around the anus, which is beneficial for defecation and prevention of hemorrhoids.

6. Pay attention to bowel habits

If hemorrhoids prolapse during defecation, they should be treated promptly: wash the anus, lie on the bed, raise the hips, put some cooking oil on soft toilet paper or gauze, hold the oil paper in your hand, gently push the hemorrhoids deep into the anus, and then insert an anal plug. Don't get up and move around right away. If hemorrhoids prolapse when walking or coughing, after treating them as described above, multiple layers of gauze should be used at the anus to increase fixation.
