Is it dangerous to have an abortion with a septate uterus?

If you want to have an abortion for a woman with a septate uterus, there are still certain risks. You can try other methods of abortion, such as medical abortion. This method of abortion can completely remove the fetus in your abdomen to avoid the appearance of some residue inside your cervix again, which will cause more problems. It should also be noted that abortion needs to be done in the early stages of pregnancy, and not after the pregnancy is advanced.

1. Uterine septum and pregnancy are actually often due to the influence of the septum, the uterine cavity is deformed, leading to an increased incidence of late pregnancy complications, such as premature birth rate of 11%~28%. After corrective surgery, the premature birth rate can be reduced to 6%~9%. Uterine malformation can also lead to obstetric complications such as abnormal fetal position, uterine contraction dysfunction, and retained placenta.

2. Ectopic pregnancy (also known as ectopic pregnancy) Due to the complexity of uterine malformations, ectopic pregnancy (also known as ectopic pregnancy) can often occur in closed uterine horns, rudimentary uterine horns, cervix or vaginal diverticula. Because of their rarity, pregnancies in this unusual location are often difficult to diagnose early.

The incidence of uterine septate and pregnancy is 17%~35%, and the pregnancy rate after uterine septate correction surgery is 48%. Some scholars also believe that uterine septate is not a factor leading to infertility, but in patients with secondary infertility, the incidence of unexplained infertility increases significantly to 40%. Therefore, it cannot be ruled out that uterine septate is one of the factors affecting conception in this type of patients.

A septate uterus is a common uterine developmental abnormality that occurs when the bilateral paramesonephric ducts are fused and a certain process of septum absorption is blocked. The septate uterus has an incidence rate of 0.009% to 12% and the incidence rate in the population is unknown. It accounts for about 75% of uterine malformations. After the bilateral paramesonephric ducts are completely fused, the absorption of the septum is impaired, resulting in a septate uterus (utertIs stum), which is divided into complete septate uterus and incomplete septate uterus.

The uterus with septate is classified as Buttram class V. The septate uterus is divided into two types. A uterus with a complete septate uterus is one that extends from the fundus of the uterus to the internal or external os of the cervix; a uterus with an incomplete septate uterus is one that ends at any point above the internal os of the cervix. There may be communication between the mediastinum and the part above the external opening. Complete uterine septate combined with vaginal septate, vaginal atresia on one side in a few cases, and urinary system hypoplasia.
