How to reduce fever caused by breast engorgement

How to reduce fever caused by breast engorgement

As the baby grows rapidly day by day, pregnant women may experience emergency situations such as a sudden increase in breast milk during the confinement period, which often causes breast engorgement. And due to lack of experience, this kind of situation cannot be handled well, which often leads to milk blockage. When breast engorgement occurs, breast pain is obvious, and sometimes it may cause local swelling and pain, fever in the injured area and other symptoms. What should be done if a pregnant woman's breast engorgement also causes a fever?

How to reduce fever when pregnant women have breast swelling

1. This should be attributed to mastitis. When mastitis is not serious in the early stages, it can improve on its own within 24 hours.

2. If the fever lasts for more than 24 hours, consider using medication for targeted treatment.

3. During the fever period, it is recommended to wash the wound with warm water and perform physical fever reduction.

4. Stop breastfeeding immediately, use an automatic breast pump to extract some of the milk, or gently massage the breasts to make the milk drainage smooth. It is also best to use a bra or triangular support frame to lift your breasts.

What to do if pregnant women have breast swelling

1. If your breasts are swollen and painful, do not hold it in.

2. You can squeeze the milk moderately, but don't squeeze it too much, otherwise it will promote the secretion of milk, which is not worth the loss.

3. Reduce the irritation to the breasts and nipples, so that the secretion of lactogen will decrease, and the secretion of milk will gradually decrease.

4. Never let the baby suck the nipple or touch the breast.

Pregnant women should check the condition of their breasts in time during the confinement period. If frequent milk swelling or even clumping occurs, massage and rub the lumps in time to avoid mastitis. If your breasts are often engorged, you can use a manual breast pump to drain the breasts, but don't drain them completely. Once you have mastitis, you should see a doctor after weaning to avoid further complications.
