Bleeding after cervical biopsy

In recent years, the incidence of cervical diseases in women has been increasing year by year. Cervical diseases are very harmful to women's health. There are many types of cervical diseases, the most common of which are cervical polyps and cervical tumors. If you have cervical cancer, you usually need to do a biopsy during the examination. Some women have a cervical biopsy for the first time. Is it normal to bleed after a cervical biopsy?

Is bleeding after a cervical biopsy normal?

It's normal. Generally, bloody-smelling fluid may still flow out from the 5th to 14th day after surgery. There will be some odor in your lower body after the operation, but don't worry, it will disappear after a few days. After the operation, you should pay attention to nutrition, do not eat seafood and spicy food, and do not eat cold food. Just pay attention to rest, wash the vulva frequently and change it frequently.

Underwear, do not have sex for 2 months after surgery. No bathing in a tub for one month. Follow-up visit should be conducted 4-6 weeks after surgery to check the healing of the cervical wound.

Cervical biopsy refers to a living tissue examination of the cervix, which is to remove a small piece or several pieces of active tissue from the female cervix for pathological examination to determine the diagnosis and treatment method. It is generally used for suspected cervical cancer or suspicious cells in the cervical scraping, and cervical biopsy is the most reliable basis for diagnosing cervical cancer. Whether it is early or late stage cervical cancer, this examination must be performed to determine the pathological type and degree of cell differentiation of the cancer.

The method of cervical biopsy is: after disinfecting the vulva, vagina, and cervix, use a special biopsy forceps to take a few small pieces of tissue according to the location of the lesion and requirements, fix them in 10% formalin solution, send them to the pathology department for sectioning, stain them, observe and analyze them under a microscope, and then make a pathological diagnosis.

Postoperative precautions:

1. Do not take a bath or have sexual intercourse for two weeks after angiography. Antibiotics may be given as appropriate to prevent infection.

2. Sometimes tubal spasm may cause the illusion of tubal obstruction. Repeat if necessary.

3. A small amount of vaginal bleeding within one week after the angiography is normal if there is no other discomfort. If the amount of bleeding is more than the menstrual volume or if there are other discomforts, you should contact your doctor.

4. It is best to practice contraception for three months after the contrast examination to reduce the possible effects of X-ray exposure. However, clinical observations have found that women who become pregnant in the same month after angiography do not have an increased risk of fetal abnormalities.

5. Take Chinese medicine for conditioning, pay more attention to hygiene and avoid inflammation and infection.

The following three points should be noted during cervical biopsy:

1. Collect materials from multiple sources. Generally, samples are collected at 3, 6, 9, and 12 o'clock at the junction of the squamous and columnar epithelium of the cervix, or from the area that is not stained by iodine staining, or from the white epithelium in the acetic acid test, or a biopsy is taken under a colposcope. The specimens taken should include some healthy tissue, and more specimens should be taken if there are obvious lesions.

2. The biopsy site may bleed, so apply pressure with a cotton ball to stop the bleeding after sampling.

3. If a cervical biopsy is required during pregnancy, the patient should be hospitalized to prevent bleeding. This examination is generally not performed during pregnancy.
