Irregular abdominal pain at 39 weeks of pregnancy

Irregular abdominal pain at 39 weeks of pregnancy

If you experience irregular abdominal pain at 39 weeks of pregnancy, it is most likely caused by irregular uterine contractions. Uterine contractions are relatively important for pregnant women in the late stages of pregnancy, because this may mean that the pregnant woman is about to give birth. Therefore, during this period, pregnant women must make full preparations for delivery. Here are some things to note for pregnant women when they are about to give birth!

1. Labor pain warning

During pregnancy, the uterus often contracts, especially when approaching the due date. We call it "false labor" or "false pain". Because it can easily cause discomfort and anxiety in pregnant women, some people mistakenly think that birth is coming, but it occurs more irregularly and is less painful.

If contractions occur approximately every ten minutes, you should notify your doctor immediately and prepare to go to the hospital for delivery. If a contraction occurs every five minutes, it means that delivery has begun and the uterus will contract regularly. The contraction at this time is called labor, and it will be followed by severe pain. The expectant mother must go to the hospital as soon as possible.

In addition, it should be reminded that sometimes the amniotic membrane breaks before the contractions occur. This is called "early rupture of water" and you should immediately ask a doctor to check whether the cervix is open and whether there is umbilical cord prolapse. If the water breaks for too long, it is more likely to cause bacterial infection and lead to some complications, so you should be careful.

2. Prepare hospital supplies

Usually when pregnancy enters the 36th week, delivery is possible at any time, so expectant mothers in the late stages of pregnancy are advised to put the supplies and documents needed for hospitalization in the same bag so that they can take them with them at any time if needed, to avoid missing anything in a panic. The documents generally required for admission to the hospital include: health insurance card, maternity health handbook, as well as the identity cards of both spouses, birth permit, etc.

The items that may be needed during hospitalization are listed below. Expectant mothers can prepare them according to their needs.

1) Bathing supplies: towel, soap, facial cleanser, toothbrush, toothpaste, cup, comb, washbasin (for warm water sitz bath for hemorrhoids).

2) Clothing: front-button pajamas with separate tops and bottoms, slippers, cotton socks (for keeping warm), and clothes, shoes and socks for the mother and baby to wear when they are discharged from the hospital. (Some hospitals provide it free of charge).

3) Tableware: cups, spoons.

4) Hygiene and cleaning products: postpartum sanitary napkins and disposable pants (some hospitals provide them free of charge).

5) Breastfeeding equipment: breastfeeding bra (front opening), nursing pads, breast milk bags, and breast pump.

6) Others: skin care products, body lotions.

3. Things to note when preparing a delivery bag

1. Before packing, you can classify the items in the maternity bag appropriately, putting things for the baby in one category and things for the mother in another. After the major categories are classified, they can be further divided into small categories, such as food, clothing, and daily necessities. In short, detailed classification can greatly save space in the delivery bag and make it very convenient to find things.

2. After preparing the delivery bag, put it somewhere easy to reach. Although doctors will predict the delivery date for mothers, only about 40% of babies are actually born on the due date. In order to prevent naughty babies from being born prematurely, mothers should put the delivery bag in an easy-to-reach place so that they can take it and go. Don't wait until the delivery date is imminent and you can't find the delivery bag.

3. Expectant mothers do not need to rush to buy all the delivery supplies. They can first go to the hospital to ask what can be provided. After understanding the details, they can decide whether to use the hospital's items and what else they need to purchase.

4. Before preparing your delivery bag, it is best to consult new mothers who have just given birth. After all, practice makes perfect, and those who have experienced it have the most say and can give the most practical advice.
