Why does a woman's lower abdomen swell and hurt?

Because of the special characteristics of their bodies, women have to go through stages such as menstruation, pregnancy and childbirth in the process of growing from girls to women. Especially for women who have had multiple abortions, the chance of getting the disease is much higher than other people. It is normal for women to experience symptoms such as bloating and pain in the lower abdomen a week before their period. However, if you experience lower abdominal distension and pain at other times, it is not normal. So what causes women’s lower abdominal distension and pain?

1. Irregular menstruation

When women have irregular menstruation, it will cause distension in the lower abdomen. Most women will experience general discomfort and lower abdominal pain during the menstrual cycle. Severe patients will experience nausea, vomiting, fainting, etc. Especially for adolescent women, primary dysmenorrhea can be cured. If dysmenorrhea occurs after menstruation, it should be caused by a disease, and you should go to the hospital for examination in time. Some patients rely on painkillers to solve the problem of dysmenorrhea. Taking painkillers for a long time will cause a certain dependence on the drugs, thereby reducing the body's absorption of the drugs. In addition, frequent dysmenorrhea may also be caused by uterine disease.

2. Caused by tumor

When a tumor appears in the body, it will cause distension in the lower abdomen, accompanied by abdominal distension, back pain, and abdominal pain, which usually persists. If the tumor ruptures or twists, severe bleeding will cause sudden abdominal pain in the patient, and the patient should go to the hospital for surgery in time.

3. Acute appendicitis

Suffering from acute appendicitis can also cause patients to experience severe abdominal pain. The pain usually occurs in the upper abdomen and then slowly moves to the patient's right lower abdomen. It is also accompanied by nausea, vomiting, high fever, and pain when pressing the lower abdomen. Once you suffer from acute appendicitis, you should seek treatment promptly and follow the doctor's instructions. Do not delay, otherwise your abdomen will be infected.

4. Miscarriage

If a woman who has just become pregnant experiences sudden lower abdominal pain or vaginal bleeding, it may be a sign of miscarriage. In addition, ectopic pregnancy can also cause a feeling of heaviness in the lower abdomen; bleeding in the abdominal cavity can cause the patient to experience a feeling of heaviness in the anus, pale face, dizziness, and even shock.

5. Physiological deformity

Common physiological deformities for women mainly refer to vaginal diaphragm or hymen occlusion, both of which can cause lower abdominal distension in women. When women have their period, blood discharge is hindered to a certain extent, resulting in abdominal pain, which can only be cured through surgery.
