Vulvar atrophy is mostly vulvar leukoplakia, the medical name for vulvar leukoplakia is vulvar white lesions, vulvar white lesions or vulvar dystrophy. The so-called vulvar leukoplakia actually refers to a disease of tissue degeneration and pigment changes caused by local nerve and vascular nutrition disorders in the vulva. Clinically, diseases in which the skin and mucous membranes of the vulva become white, coarse, or atrophic are collectively referred to as "vulvar leukoplakia."

Atrophic vulvar leukoplakia. The lesions are white patches, and the skin becomes thinner and shiny to varying degrees. Typically, the lesions resemble cigarette paper. The distribution of lesions is confluent in many cases and scattered in a few. In severe cases, the clitoris shrinks and disappears, the foreskin tightens, the skin wrinkles become flat, and the vaginal opening forms a narrow slit.

Atrophic malnutrition lesions may be asymptomatic or only cause mild itching in the early stages, and symptoms of dyspareunia appear earlier. Accompanied by tingling and itching. Local symptoms: In the early stage, the vulva will slightly atrophy and become lighter and whiter, sometimes the labia majora and labia minora will become lighter and whiter, and the vulva may also become generally white, affecting the labia minora, clitoris, clitoral frenulum and anus. In the middle stage, the skin of the affected area may turn white and become more severe due to excessive keratinization, the skin may become dry, chapped, and inelastic, the labia minora may become thinner, atrophied, and disappear, and the clitoris may atrophy and become adhered. In the late stage, the vulva atrophies significantly.
