What causes itching on the outside of the breast?

If you feel itching on the outside of your breast, the most likely reason is that you have breast eczema. Once this disease occurs, it will cause a lot of sequelae. In addition, the cause of this disease is also very complicated, which leads to many patients not being able to know the real cause of their disease, and thus having no way to completely cure their symptoms in the early stages.

The causes of breast eczema are relatively complex, and are mostly the result of the combination and interaction of exogenous and internal factors.

Physical and chemical factors (30%)

Exposure of the body to external factors such as dust, pollen, sunlight, cold, heat, humidity, sweating, friction, animal fur debris, chemicals, cosmetics, artificial fibers, dyes, plastic products, etc. can induce it. Eating certain foods such as fish, shrimp, eggs, crabs or milk and other foreign proteins can aggravate breast eczema.

Infection (20%)

Inflammatory reactions caused by chronic infection lesions, chronic cholecystitis, chronic tonsillitis, fungal contamination, intestinal parasites and other infections can induce breast eczema.

Other factors (20%)

Allergic constitution, history of atopy such as skin diseases eczema, food allergies, familial tendency, metabolic, endocrine, digestive tract dysfunction, excessive mental stress, excessive physical fatigue, etc.

Pathogenesis

1. Pathogenesis: This disease is a delayed allergic reaction caused by a combination of internal and external factors. The patient may have a certain eczema constitution and develop the disease under the stimulation of some factors. Due to the complexity of the cause, the exact pathogenesis needs further study.

2. Pathological staging: According to the pathological changes of breast eczema, it can be clinically divided into 3 stages:

(1) Acute phase: Blisters form in the epidermis, surrounded by a certain degree of intracellular or intercellular edema, inflammatory cell infiltration in the epidermis, vasodilation in the superficial dermis, and interstitial edema.

(2) Subacute phase: Blisters form in the epidermis, inflammatory cells infiltrate between epidermal cells, middle layer spinous cells become thickened with varying degrees of keratinization, and obvious neutrophil infiltration occurs in the dermis.

(3) Chronic stage: no blisters are seen, but the stratum spinosum is significantly thickened with epithelial hyperplasia, the epidermis is hyperkeratotic and may not be completely keratinized, there is mild edema in the epidermis, chronic inflammatory cell infiltration in the dermis, and thickening of small blood vessels with proliferation of endothelial cells and collagen fibers.

prevention

This disease is more common in summer and is more common in people with allergic constitutions. The incidence rate in infants and young children is higher than in adults.

1. Remove the cause

(1) Although the cause of eczema is not easy to determine, we should still inquire about the medical history in detail, conduct necessary systematic examinations, try to find out the possible causes, and eliminate them.

People with allergic constitutions should not only avoid contact with substances that are likely to cause allergies in terms of clothing, food, transportation, etc. (see allergens in the causes for details), but also strengthen physical exercise to improve their allergic constitution.
