I believe many women are familiar with cervical erosion, which is a gynecological disease with a relatively high incidence rate and also a disease that poses a great threat to women's health. For women with cervical erosion, timely medical treatment is necessary, because the earlier the treatment, the easier the treatment will be and the faster the recovery will be. Below, I will introduce you to the relevant knowledge about cervical erosion in detail! 1. What is cervical erosion? In 2008, cervical columnar epithelium ectopia replaced the term cervical erosion. Due to different degrees of inflammatory stimulation in the cervix, the columnar epithelium of the cervical mucosa grows slowly, and the epithelium is flat and smooth in appearance, which is simple erosion; when the columnar epithelium grows quickly and forms glandular hyperplasia, it is called adenoid erosion. If the glands are dilated, it may be a follicular erosion, accompanied by stromal hyperplasia, forming small protrusions, which are unevenly covered with columnar epithelium, forming papillary erosions. Cervical erosion is one of the most common gynecological diseases. 2. Symptoms and Signs Cervical erosion is the most common local feature in the course of chronic metritis. Due to the infiltration of inflammatory secretions, the squamous epithelium of the cervix falls off and is replaced by the columnar epithelium of the cervical canal, which manifests as cervical erosion. Clinically, cervical erosion is divided into grades I, II and III according to the size of the cervical erosion area. The main symptoms are: Increased leucorrhea: Increased leucorrhea is the main symptom of this disease, sometimes it is bloody or mixed with blood. Vulvar itching and pain: The vulva and vagina may be irritated by increased leucorrhea, which may lead to vulvitis or vaginitis and cause vulvar itching and pain. Pain in the lower abdomen and lumbosacral region: When the inflammation is severe, it may cause pain in the lower abdomen or lumbosacral region along the uterosacral ligament, accompanied by a feeling of falling. Frequent urination or difficulty urinating: When the inflammation spreads to the bladder trigone or around the bladder, frequent urination or difficulty urinating may occur. Infertility: Thick leucorrhea is not conducive to sperm penetration, so severe cervicitis can cause infertility. Treatment Cervical columnar epithelium ectopia does not require any treatment, and many current methods of treating cervical erosion are wrong. But for symptomatic cervicitis, treatment is needed. Acute inflammation is treated with suppositories, while chronic inflammation can be treated with physical therapy such as laser or freezing. |
