Eclampsia during pregnancy_Why do pregnant women get eclampsia

When a woman is pregnant, various conditions may occur in her body, and after giving birth, she may experience dizziness, which is a condition called eclampsia. The cause of this disease is that the pregnant woman does not take in much nutrition during pregnancy, which causes the depletion of nutrients in the body and has a great impact on the fetus in the womb. Therefore, after giving birth, you must pay attention to maintenance and eat more nutrients so that you can gradually recover.

Eclampsia during pregnancy refers to a disease in which pregnant women in the late stages of pregnancy, during labor or just after giving birth experience dizziness and headaches, sudden unconsciousness, eyes looking upward, convulsions in their hands and feet, and whole body rigidity. They wake up after a short while, relapse after waking up, and even fall into a coma. This disease is called "eclampsia", also known as "eclampsia during pregnancy".

Eclampsia in pregnancy develops from the worsening of the signs and symptoms of pre-eclampsia. Eclampsia can occur during pregnancy, delivery or within 24 hours after delivery, and is respectively called antepartum eclampsia, intrapartum eclampsia and postpartum eclampsia. It is one of the four major causes of death in obstetrics. Once it occurs, maternal and fetal complications and mortality rates will increase significantly, so special attention should be paid and emergency treatment should be given. Once a pregnant woman develops eclampsia, the situation is very serious and the mortality rate is extremely high.

Eclampsia in pregnancy Eclampsia mostly occurs in late pregnancy and before delivery (between 20 weeks of pregnancy and the first week of the postpartum period). When convulsions occur, the eyeballs are fixed first, the pupils are dilated, the head is often twisted to one side, the facial muscles twitch, the muscles relax, the cyanosis gradually fades, the breathing is deep, snoring occurs, and the muscles of the whole body twitch vigorously. There are often prodromal symptoms before the attack, with arms flexed, hands clenched, lower limbs stiff, breathing pause, cyanosis, and eyeballs rolling up. After more than 10 seconds, white or bloody foam can be seen at the mouth. After 0.5 to 2 minutes, the convulsions gradually stop, such as severe headache, abdominal distension and pain, nausea and vomiting, etc., and the patient falls into a coma. If the condition is mild, after a few seconds, the muscles of the whole body will twitch rigidly. The person may wake up quickly after the twitch or stop twitching after 1 to 2 twitches. If the condition is severe, the person will fall into a deep coma and may continue to twitch.

The traditional Chinese medicine term for this condition is equivalent to the Western medicine term “eclampsia” for severe pregnancy-induced hypertension. Symptoms include sudden fainting during pregnancy, convulsions of the limbs, eyes staring straight ahead, clenched jaws, foaming at the mouth, cyanosis of the face, etc. The woman may wake up after a short while and then relapse. This is also called eclampsia. There is a risk of death to both the pregnant woman and the fetus. Volume 42 of "Treatise on the Causes and Symptoms of Various Diseases" states: "When a person is weak and is exposed to wind, the Taiyang meridian is injured, causing stagnation in the meridians. If cold and dampness are encountered later, the mouth will be closed and the back will be stiff. This is called spasm. If it occurs during pregnancy... it is called eclampsia." It is also known as eclampsia, fetal dizziness, pregnancy spasm, pregnancy wind spasm, wind spasm, pregnancy epilepsy, infant dizziness, infant wind, infant spasm, and fetal wind. Before an attack, severe headache, dizziness, blurred vision, nausea, tremors in the limbs, and swelling of the lower limbs are common signs of eclampsia, and eclampsia should be prevented.
