How long should pregnant women breathe oxygen?

Pregnant women need a lot of oxygen and other fresh air intake throughout the pregnancy, because pregnancy will cause the metabolic level in the body to rise, and a lot of oxygen is needed to maintain the metabolism. Therefore, if pregnant women do not absorb enough oxygen, it may have a very adverse effect on the development of the fetus. Pregnant women cannot breathe oxygen without any worries. Let’s take a look at how long pregnant women should breathe oxygen.

Generally, each time of oxygen inhalation should not exceed 30 minutes, and no more than twice a day. This can not only avoid the occurrence of hypoxia, but also will not cause the adverse effects caused by excessive oxygen inhalation.

In the later stages of pregnancy, if there are signs of fetal hypoxia such as decreased fetal movement, oxygen inhalation can be used to treat the condition. It is recommended to inhale oxygen twice a day, 30 minutes each time. This will prevent fetal hypoxia from affecting fetal health.

Theoretically, as long as the inhaled concentration is less than 60%, there will not be any major problems with long-term oxygen inhalation. Some people have heard that inhaling too much oxygen can cause oxygen poisoning, which can lead to retinal detachment in the fetus. In fact, there is no need to worry about this, because a normal person who is not short of oxygen will not be poisoned until he stays in a pure oxygen environment under 1 standard atmospheric pressure for 24 hours. Staying in a hospital hyperbaric oxygen chamber for about 2 hours will also cause oxygen poisoning. Pregnant women should inhale for about 30 minutes a day, and it is enough to persist in inhaling for 3 to 7 days. There is no need to inhale every day for a long time. This is far from the amount that would cause poisoning. Don't worry, it is still very safe to inhale oxygen. You can use some portable oxygen cylinders, such as Vitality Oxygen or Pregnancy Oxygen, and you can use one bottle a day.

Appropriate oxygen inhalation has no effect on the fetus, but is beneficial to it. Sufficient oxygen inhalation can allow the baby to get more nutrients and continue to grow and develop. However, if you do not pay attention to the amount of oxygen inhalation, it may disrupt the acid-base balance in the blood, making the blood alkaline, which is not conducive to the growth and development of the fetus. Therefore, pregnant women should strictly control the amount of oxygen inhalation.
