The cauliflower-like spots that appear on the labia majora of women are medically known as genital eczema. This type of eczema is completely different from the eczema we usually talk about. It is contagious to a certain extent, but most of the time it is transmitted through sexual intercourse. It is actually related to the patient's sexual life. Most of the patients have chaotic private lives. Of course, it is not ruled out that some people are infected through simple transmission. For example, underwear and bathtubs that have been in contact with people in daily life may become sources of infection. 1. Transmission through sexual contact This is the main route of transmission. HPV is transmitted through sexual contact, through damaged skin and mucous membranes. Survey data show that genital warts mostly occur in sexually active people aged 20-40, most of whom have a history of extramarital affairs or promiscuous sex with multiple people. According to research, the virus is most contagious on average 3 and a half months after infection. In addition to direct vaginal and anal sex, oral sex and other methods can also cause infection. 2. Indirect contact transmission It can be transmitted through daily necessities such as underwear, bathtubs, bath towels, etc. When men suffer from balanitis or women suffer from candidal vaginitis or trichomoniasis vaginitis, local immersion and moisture provide favorable conditions for the inoculation, breeding and reproduction of papillomavirus. Scratching the genitals with contaminated hands or using contaminated towels can also cause the infection of genital warts. Cases of this disease occurring in body parts other than the genitals are not uncommon, such as the perianal area, oral cavity, armpits, scalp, external auditory canal, etc., and are more susceptible to infection when there are minor injuries to the skin and mucous membranes at the contact site. Although cases of infection through scratching or even through toilets are indeed seen in clinical practice, including cases in children, these are after all a minority, and daily contact is not that dangerous. 3. Mother-to-child transmission During pregnancy, due to changes in hormone levels in the body, abundant blood supply to the genitals, and a decrease in the body's immune function, genital warts can grow rapidly and even reach the point of blocking the birth canal. Warts are prone to tearing and bleeding during childbirth, and because their tissues are fragile, it is difficult to stop the bleeding by suturing. Genital warts or laryngeal papillomatosis in infants and young children, as well as genital warts in some children, may be infected by the fetus passing through the birth canal during delivery or by close contact with the mother after birth. Since genital warts grow rapidly during pregnancy and cause trouble for later treatment, it is recommended to check for genital warts before pregnancy. |
