Will breast abscess recur?

Will breast abscess recur?

Breast is the most important organ of women. But it is also a very fragile part. After giving birth, the mother is prone to breast abscess puncture during breastfeeding. This disease is closely related to the lymph nodes. In the area of the abscess, it will be very painful due to the blockage of the lymph nodes, and gentle pressure will reveal lumps inside. The disease will recur, so it must be treated in time.

As the infection multiplies, a red, tender lump will form in the breast, and the axillary glands and supraclavicular lymph nodes on the affected breast will also become tender and feverish. Women who breastfeed their babies are more likely to develop this disease.

1. Treatment

1. Breast swelling and pain, reddish skin, poor milk secretion, accompanied by chills and fever, headache, chest tightness, thin yellow tongue coating, and stringy and rapid pulse. You can take Niuhuang Jiedu Pills, Yinqiao Jiedu Pills combined with Sini San or Chaihu Shugan Pills, etc. Apply golden ointment and jade dew ointment externally.

2. The chills and fever persist, the breast becomes diffusely red and swollen, and the pain is severe. Then the center of the lump becomes soft and feels fluctuating when pressed. The tongue coating is thick and yellow, and the pulse is stringy and rapid. You can take Ruchuang Pills, Lianqiao Baidu Pills, Qingwei Huanglian Pills, etc. Apply golden ointment and Sanhuang ointment externally.

3. The abscess ruptures, pus is discharged, the fever subsides, the body becomes cool, the swelling and pain are reduced, and only a wound surface remains. Pale complexion, red tongue with thin white coating, deep and fine pulse. You can use Bazhen Pills or Ginseng Yangrong Pills and take them together with Sichao Pills. Apply externally the Quji Shengji Powder and Shengji Yuhong Ointment.

2. Symptoms

1. Patients with early-stage mastitis experience swollen and painful breasts, tender lumps in the affected area, red and hot skin on the surface, and systemic symptoms such as fever.

2. If breast inflammation continues to develop, the above symptoms will worsen. At this time, the pain will be pulsating, and the patient may have chills, high fever, and rapid pulse. The axillary lymph nodes on the affected side of mastitis are often swollen and tender.

3. The white blood cell count increases significantly and the nuclei shift to the left. The inflammatory mass often softens within a few days to form an abscess. Superficial abscesses can be felt and fluctuate, while deep abscesses require puncture to be confirmed.

4. In addition to slowly breaking outward, deep abscesses can also penetrate deep into the loose tissue between the breast and pectoral muscle, forming a retromammary abscess.

5. Breast abscess can be unilocular or expand to multilocular due to failure to drain in time; or it can penetrate the skin from the outside, or the abscess can rupture into the milk duct and form nipple pus discharge; the same breast can also have several lesions at the same time and form multiple abscesses.

6. Severe acute mastitis can cause large-scale necrosis of breast tissue and even lead to sepsis.
