Why do my fingers swell after childbirth?

Childbirth is a very important event in a woman's life. The process of childbirth will have a great impact on a woman's body. Some women are prone to physical abnormalities after giving birth. A typical example is swollen fingers after childbirth. Because there are many reasons, we need to have a general understanding so that we can figure out our own condition. So, what causes swollen fingers after childbirth?

After childbirth, women's endocrine system is prone to disorders, which can lead to pain in the finger joints, reduce the hand's ability to bear weight and grip strength, reduce the elasticity of the ligaments at the finger joints, and finally lead to loosening of the finger joints. In addition, the following factors can cause finger joint pain:

1. Nerve compression

During pregnancy, the body's water circulation increases, which can cause edema in the ligaments in the wrist, which in turn can compress the median nerve in the hand. This causes numbness or pain, which is called carpal tunnel syndrome.

2. Lack of Vb12

If the intake of Vb12 cannot meet the body's needs, it will cause peripheral nerve disorders and lead to numbness or pain in the joints.

3. Excessive burden on hands

If mothers start doing housework without getting enough rest after giving birth, or do too much housework, or hold the baby for a long time, or use cold water, it will increase the burden on their hands and cause pain in the finger joints. A common symptom of the disease is swelling at the end of the patient's thumb, which hinders the patient's daily hand activities. When doing simple pinching movements, pain occurs. This pain sometimes extends slowly from the finger joints to the arm or the end of the thumb, similar to neuralgia. In severe cases, it can also have an adverse effect on sleep.

4. Lack of exercise

When mothers are in confinement, because they do not exercise often, the fat pad in the heel will cause thinning and degeneration, thereby weakening the ability to support body weight and buffer the vibration generated by exercise.

5. Blood stasis in the body

According to traditional Chinese medicine, postpartum ischemia, blood stasis, etc. can also cause finger joint pain. Ischemia can cause problems in the limbs. The meridians and joints cannot get enough nutrients. If there is blood stasis, blood circulation will be hindered, which can easily cause wind and cold to be retained between the tendons and joints, hindering blood circulation.
