What causes an allergy to sperm?

We all know that women's reproductive cells are eggs, and men's reproductive cells are naturally sperm. Moreover, sperm exists in semen, but in life some people, especially some women, are allergic to sperm, which is really strange. This means that sex life is a burden for such women, not to mention getting pregnant. So, what causes an allergy to sperm?

Semen allergy refers to an allergic reaction in women with allergic constitutions when semen enters the female body, causing the microvessels of the local or systemic skin and mucous membranes to dilate, increase permeability, and cause swelling of the eyelids, lips, etc. Some men may also experience semen allergy.

Causes

Semen is a special substance with a complex composition, which contains more than ten different antigens, but for most people, it is not lethal. This is because seminal plasma contains an immunosuppressive substance called MIM, which can reduce the "sensitivity" of the immune system and protect sperm from rejection. When the activity of a woman's MIM decreases and the antigenicity of her semen increases, and she happens to have an allergic constitution, when semen enters her body, it will cause an allergic reaction, causing the microvessels of the local or systemic skin and mucous membranes to dilate, the permeability to increase, and swelling of the eyelids, lips, etc.

The culprit causing female semen allergy is the antigenic substances in semen. The sperm in male semen and seminal plasma contain dozens of antigenic substances. Under normal circumstances, a certain amount of antigenic substances will not cause allergies in women. However, if the content of antigenic substances in the husband's semen is too strong, or the wife has a severe allergic constitution, it will cause allergies.

Some women's sexual allergies are caused by the sexual environment. A woman developed asthma when she had sex with her husband in the bedroom, but did not have this symptom when they had sex in the living room. It turned out that the allergens that caused her asthma were present in the mattress and bedding, such as house dust and dust mites. The activities during sex caused the allergens to fly in the air, and the patient inhaled them, causing asthma. The preventive measures are to clean the bedroom frequently and change the bed sheets.

Some women may also have allergic reactions to their husbands' sweat. Men often sweat during sexual intercourse, and some even sweat profusely. Due to the close physical contact between husband and wife, the husband's sweat often contaminates his wife's body. Some people also have allergic reactions to their husband's semen and sweat, and therefore cannot have a normal sex life.
