Can you get pregnant if you have high blood lipids?

Generally speaking, diseases such as high blood lipids and high blood pressure are still relatively common for older people. This is because the elderly exercise less and do not pay attention to their diet, so the three highs are very common. However, in modern society, some people suffer from hyperlipidemia, perhaps due to high work pressure. So, is it possible to get pregnant with high blood lipids?

If you have high blood lipids, you should cure them before getting pregnant.

Some women who are planning to have a second child may have questions: My blood lipids are high, can I still have a second child? Will it be passed on to the child? Theoretically, women who suffer from high blood lipids before pregnancy can become pregnant and it will not be passed on to the child, but because high blood lipids can easily induce a variety of complications and endanger the health of the mother and fetus, it is best for patients to go to the obstetric clinic for a detailed prenatal examination before pregnancy, focusing on liver function, body mass index evaluation, etc. The doctor will guide the patient on proper diet and exercise based on the patient's specific indicators. After active treatment, the doctor assessed that there was little impact on the fetus and the patient was able to become pregnant.

Hyperlipidemia is defined as a serum triglyceride level exceeding 150 mg/dL (1.7 mmol/L). Mild: (150 to 199 mg/dL 1.7 to 2.2 mmol/L), Moderate: (200 to 999 mg/dL, 2.3 to 11.2 mmol/L), Severe: (1000 to 1999 mg/dL, 11.2 to 22.4 mmol/L), Extremely severe: (> 2000 mg/dL, > 22.4 mmol/L). When blood lipids are higher than 1000 mg/dL (11.2 mmol/L), the risk of pancreatitis increases significantly.

Hyperlipidemia during pregnancy is extremely harmful and can induce acute pancreatitis and fetal distress

As shown in the above case, hyperlipidemia during pregnancy can induce acute pancreatitis during pregnancy, with a probability of up to 56%. The mortality rate of the disease is as high as 33.3%, which is very dangerous. At the same time, clinical findings show that pregnant women with hyperlipidemia have an increased probability of developing gestational diabetes and impaired glucose tolerance during pregnancy, which can easily lead to gestational diabetes, gestational hypertension, fatty liver of pregnancy, hyperviscosity syndrome and other diseases. The probability of mothers with hyperlipidemia experiencing polyhydramnios and fetal intrauterine distress is also significantly increased. High blood lipids can easily cause atherosclerosis in the human body, causing liver damage and significantly increasing the risk of coronary heart disease. This is even more harmful for pregnant women. Excessive blood lipids will increase blood viscosity and deposit on the blood vessel walls of the placenta, blocking placental blood flow and increasing umbilical cord blood flow resistance. The fetus cannot get enough blood supply in the mother's body, making miscarriage and stillbirth very likely to occur.
