Management of threatened premature labor

Management of threatened premature labor

The impact of threatened premature birth on the baby is relatively large, mainly because many of the premature babies' body functions are not fully developed, they may not be able to survive, and they may also have some congenital diseases. For the symptoms of threatened premature birth, we should follow the doctor's advice on medication guidance, inhibit uterine contractions and enhance the absorption of nutrients during pregnancy. You can learn about the specific preventive measures.

Clinically, the purpose of obstetricians' treatment of threatened premature labor is to prolong gestational age, promote further growth and development of the fetus, improve the quality of fetal survival, significantly reduce the mortality rate of premature infants, and reduce complications. Pregnant women must have the confidence and patience to protect the fetus, follow the doctor's medication instructions, face it with a positive attitude, be mentally prepared, and respond correctly. Avoid harm to yourself and your unborn baby.

Treatment of threatened premature labor:

The primary task of treating threatened premature labor is to inhibit uterine contractions to prolong gestational age. Commonly used clinical methods include magnesium sulfate injection, ritodrine hydrochloride, etc.

The second is auxiliary treatment: ① absolute bed rest; ② promotion of fetal lung maturity, dexamethasone is commonly used clinically to promote fetal lung maturity; ③ application of antibiotics; ④ etiological treatment and supportive therapy, giving intramuscular injection of progesterone, oral vitamin E, folic acid, intravenous drip of compound amino acids, etc.; ⑤ repeat B-ultrasound after 1~2 weeks.

Preventive measures for threatened premature birth:

1. During pregnancy, you should strengthen your nutrition, avoid mental trauma, do not smoke, do not drink, and avoid passive smoking.

2. Sexual intercourse is absolutely prohibited in the late stages of pregnancy because the prostaglandins in semen will promote uterine contraction after being absorbed through the vagina.

3. Once signs of premature birth appear, you should rest in bed immediately and lie on your left side to increase blood supply to the uterus and placenta; if conditions permit, you should be hospitalized to protect the fetus.

4. Actively treat acute and chronic diseases.

5. Maintain a good living condition. During pregnancy, pregnant women should pay attention to improving their living environment, reducing labor intensity, and increasing rest time. The greater the psychological pressure on pregnant women, the higher the incidence of premature birth, especially tension, anxiety and depression are closely related to premature birth. Therefore, pregnant women should keep a calm state of mind, eliminate tension, and avoid adverse mental stimulation; they should take in reasonable and adequate nutrition, and in the late pregnancy they should rest in bed more and lie on their left side to reduce the pressure from the uterine cavity to the cervical opening.
