What to do if you have breast inflammation?

Breasts are women's secondary sexual organs and play a very important role in sexual life and feeding babies. Therefore, maintaining breast health is also a very important issue for women. When a woman's breasts become red, swollen, or have lumps or other abnormal conditions, she must not take it lightly and should consider the possibility of breast inflammation. So what should you do when your breasts become inflamed?

1. Non-lactation mastitis (NPM), also known as chronic mastitis, can be divided into specific mastitis and non-specific mastitis according to the cause. The former mainly refers to mastitis caused by specific infections such as Mycobacterium tuberculosis, fungi, and parasites. It is not common, the cause is generally clear, and the treatment effect is relatively good. The latter mainly refers to granulomatous mastitis, plasma cell mastitis, subareolar abscess (Zuska's disease), lymphocytic sclerosing lobular mastitis, etc. The most common clinical diseases are granulomatous mastitis and plasma cell mastitis because their causes are unknown.

2. The diagnosis of acute suppurative mastitis is relatively easy. The diagnosis can be made based on redness, swelling, heat and pain in the breast, body temperature as high as 39℃~40℃, and increased white blood cell count in the blood. If the abscess is located deep and the abscess cavity is located in the post-glandular space, the redness and swelling of the skin are often not obvious. At this time, puncture and extraction of pus are required for confirmation. If the treatment is improper, the abscess forms slowly, the local lump does not disappear, the skin redness and swelling and systemic symptoms are not obvious, and chronic inflammation occurs, which needs to be differentiated from other diseases.

Acute mastitis should be differentiated from inflammatory breast cancer:

3. ① Acute mastitis usually occurs in a certain section of the breast at the beginning, and inflammatory breast cancer cells widely infiltrate the skin reticular lymphatic vessels, so the lesions involve most of the breast, and the skin has an orange peel appearance;

4.② Inflammatory breast cancer: A huge mass may be felt in the breast, and the skin redness and swelling are widespread, but local tenderness and systemic poisoning symptoms are relatively mild. A puncture cytology examination can find cancer cells to confirm the diagnosis.
