How long does a hysteroscopic procedure take?

Hysteroscopic surgery is a common gynecological surgery. This surgery is generally used to treat cervical diseases. It is a minimally invasive surgery, so the operation process is relatively short. It is to add a mirror into the woman's uterus. In this way, some medical equipment can be used to see the specific situation in the woman's uterus, which can help women have miscarriages. So how long does the hysteroscopic surgery process take?

Hysteroscopy does not take too long. If there are no unexpected events, the entire operation can usually be completed in about half an hour, because visual abortion is performed with a hysteroscope. After the operation, wait for the effect of the anesthetic to wear off and observe to see if there is anything wrong. Preoperative preparation takes about three days. If there are no contraindications in the preoperative examination, the surgery can be arranged. The wound will be almost healed on the 6th day after the operation (starting from the second day after the operation, not counting the day of the operation).

Generally speaking, if the fallopian tubes are unobstructed, the strict requirement is that you can only become pregnant three months after the hysteroscopy. However, some women get pregnant in the same month after hysteroscopy and there is nothing abnormal. The key depends on what kind of surgery is performed under the hysteroscopy. If it is just a hysteroscopy, you can usually get pregnant next month. If it is a myoma removal, you need to wait two years before getting pregnant.

Precautions before hysteroscopic surgery

1. Please maintain good personal hygiene before the operation, such as washing your hair, taking a bath, cutting your nails, and removing nail polish. Pay special attention to the cleanliness of the navel, abdomen, and vulva.

2. In terms of diet, one day before the operation, you should eat light, easily digestible semi-liquid food, mainly porridge, or according to the requirements of medical staff. Avoid eating too much meat and fish to prevent postoperative intestinal bloating.

3. Perform a cleansing enema the night before surgery. It is not advisable to leave the ward.

4. You cannot eat or drink on the day of surgery until you enter the operating room.

5. Please urinate as needed before entering the operating room

6. You are not allowed to bring removable dentures, jewelry, watches, hairpins, contact lenses, etc. into the operating room, and there should not be any items in your clothing pockets.

7. Change clothes before the operation and do not wear your own clothes, including underwear. Please wear your shirt inside out and button it at the back.

8. At the same time, you must be mentally prepared, adjust your mental state, and ensure adequate sleep. Take oral sedatives as directed by your doctor when necessary.

You should choose a regular hospital for hysteroscopy to ensure safety and accuracy. Since hysteroscopy is an invasive procedure, uterine infection may occur during or after the operation.
