Will pregnancy cause retching?

Will pregnancy cause retching?

We all know that female friends will experience morning sickness during pregnancy, but some women's morning sickness is more obvious, while some do not. Generally, morning sickness will lead to symptoms of dry heaving and nausea, which mainly occur when getting up every day. We should understand how to relieve it, drink more water to replenish water, go out more, and eat more vegetables to promote gastrointestinal motility, which will help relieve dry heaving.

Nausea and vomiting that occur after pregnancy are called "nausea and vomiting during pregnancy" or "pregnancy reaction." Most women who are more than 6 weeks pregnant often experience nausea and vomiting, which usually occurs within a few hours after waking up in the morning. Mild symptoms include only decreased appetite, morning nausea, or occasional vomiting. A few people have obvious symptoms. They vomit whatever they eat, and they will vomit even if they don’t eat. They may even vomit bile. Vomiting is not limited to the morning, but can occur throughout the day. In severe cases, dehydration and acidosis may occur. In addition to vomiting, some pregnant women also have changes in eating habits, such as preferring to eat acidic foods, disliking oily foods, and having a particularly sensitive sense of smell, which can cause vomiting after smelling disgusting odors. The cause of vomiting in early pregnancy is still unclear, but it may be related to human chorionic gonadotropin and psychological factors.

After a woman becomes pregnant, the placenta will secrete human chorionic gonadotropin. After 6 weeks of pregnancy, the secretion of this hormone begins to increase, reducing gastric acid secretion and weakening gastric motility, causing water and food to accumulate in the stomach, which can easily cause vomiting. After 12 weeks of pregnancy, the secretion of this hormone decreases significantly and vomiting disappears on its own. In addition, in the early stages of pregnancy, the excitability of the pregnant woman's cerebral cortex decreases, and the inhibitory effect on the subcortical central nervous system is weakened, causing autonomic dysfunction and thus vomiting. Vomiting in early pregnancy is a normal physiological phenomenon. There is no need to be overly nervous. Mild symptoms will not have much impact on health and do not require special treatment.

The above is the introduction about why pregnancy only causes dry heaving. In short, for pregnant women, retching during pregnancy is a very normal phenomenon. At the same time, the situation of dry retching may be different for different pregnant women, which has a lot to do with the physical fitness of the pregnant woman herself. Unless it's too serious, there's no need to worry.
