Can I get porcelain teeth while pregnant?

Pregnant women should rest at home during pregnancy. There is absolutely no time for them to do beauty treatments, take care of their skin, or use various methods to beautify themselves. However, they must not do any inappropriate care during pregnancy, especially porcelain teeth. Porcelain teeth like this one are not suitable for pregnant women. They may cause periodontitis and loose teeth, so it is recommended to do it after giving birth.

The hazards of porcelain teeth

1. Gingival staining

The problem of black lines (gingival staining) on the cervical edge of porcelain restorations causes the gums to turn black. This is a common complication of using non-precious metals (nickel-chromium alloy, cobalt-chromium alloy, pure titanium) to make porcelain teeth, and it is very difficult to deal with. In the early days of porcelain teeth, non-precious metals were often used, which resulted in a high rate of gingival staining. The reason for this was oxidation between the metal base crown and the gums. Such porcelain teeth must be removed and redone, otherwise they will cause gingivitis over time, gradually develop into periodontitis, and cause the teeth to loosen and fall out.

2. Caries of real teeth

Improper tooth grinding, crude tooth models, and inadequate processing technology in the processing plant will result in the porcelain teeth and real teeth not fitting tightly (a large gap between the crown and the root). After one or two years of use, they will become a warehouse for bacteria! At this time, brushing your teeth, using mouthwash, and using dental floss are all useless. The bacteria hidden between the porcelain teeth and the real teeth enter the braces, gradually corroding the real teeth, causing caries, and over time the real teeth will even rot completely. I watched helplessly as my real teeth were corroded by the porcelain teeth, and finally my own teeth became buried with the porcelain teeth.

3. Pain when biting

This is usually caused by improper bite adjustment during the production of porcelain teeth. If it is a minor bite problem, you can adjust the bite and continue to use it. If there are serious bite problems, the porcelain teeth must be removed and redone.

4. Temporomandibular joint disorder

Because the bite of porcelain teeth is not adjusted properly, the teeth always work in an abnormal bite state. Over time, it will cause temporomandibular joint disorder, joint clicking, pain, limited mouth opening and other symptoms. It can be seen that porcelain teeth still have harm.

5. Porcelain collapse

Some patients' porcelain teeth have even broken, but they are still using them. Not only are they ugly, but these metals also rub against the food in the mouth for a long time, producing chemical reactions under the action of saliva. It is not known whether they are harmful, so it is recommended to remove them as soon as possible.

6. Pain caused by hot or cold stimulation

I have a porcelain tooth installed, but I dare not eat too much cold, hot, sour or sweet food, and I still feel pain from time to time. This is mostly because the dentist grinds the teeth too quickly during the preparation process, causing excessive stimulation to the pulp, which is still in a state of congestion. Before having porcelain teeth made, it is necessary to evaluate the condition of the periodontal gums. If there is obvious gingival inflammation, redness, swelling, atrophy, abnormal color, etc., periodontal treatment is required first, and porcelain teeth restoration can be performed after the gums return to normal. But some doctors can't wait and do it right away, which results in the patient suffering and then has to be removed.

Many people feel good after having porcelain teeth and ignore them for several years. Experts recommend that you should see a dentist for a follow-up check 8 to 10 years after having porcelain teeth, even if you do not feel any discomfort. It is best to open the porcelain crown for a preventive check.
