Causes of stillbirth in pregnant women

Women are prone to many symptoms during pregnancy, such as nausea, confusion, fatigue, and lack of energy. Chest pain and swelling are normal reactions during pregnancy. Of course, if a serious accident occurs, stillbirth may also occur. Pregnant women themselves just need to be careful to avoid stillbirth and should avoid strenuous exercise in the early stages of pregnancy. But what are the causes of stillbirth in pregnant women? What are the causes of stillbirth?

What is stillbirth?

Stillbirth refers to the death of a fetus before normal birth, that is, in the mother's womb. It is usually called stillbirth if it occurs after 20 weeks of pregnancy. If it occurs before 20 weeks, it is generally called miscarriage.

Common causes of stillbirth

1. Hypertension during pregnancy

Hypertension in pregnant women during pregnancy can easily hinder the transmission of oxygen and nutrients to the fetus, leading to fetal death due to lack of oxygen or malnutrition.

2. Placental abruption

Placental abruption due to external impact and other reasons is also a common cause of stillbirth.

3. Early water rupture

Early rupture of membranes due to various reasons can easily cause infection in the pregnant woman's uterus, and in severe cases can even lead to fetal death.

4. Anemia in pregnant women

When a woman develops anemia symptoms such as thalassemia during pregnancy, it is also very likely to cause stillbirth.

5. Bacterial infection

If a woman is infected with viruses such as toxoplasmosis and rubella during pregnancy, the fetus may die at 24-27 weeks.

6. Prolonged pregnancy

If the pregnancy period exceeds 42 weeks, it can also lead to fetal distress and cause stillbirth.

7. Dystocia

Dystocia and accidents during delivery, resulting in fetal asphyxiation, are also common causes of stillbirth.

In addition to the above reasons, excessive drinking, smoking, and diabetes during pregnancy may also induce stillbirth to a large extent.
