Endometrial shedding

Endometrial shedding

Menstruation is a very important part of life and it is also a process that women must go through every month. I believe many people who study medicine know that when menstruation occurs, it is mainly due to the shedding of the endometrium, so there will be bleeding. This is functional uterine bleeding, a normal physiological reaction, and it is not caused by pathology. So about the shedding of the endometrium, many people may not understand what is going on.

Incomplete shedding of the endometrium is also called irregular shedding of the endometrium. It is a type of ovulatory functional uterine bleeding. Ovulation occurs, but the follicles are poorly developed, resulting in poor atrophy of the corpus luteum and a prolonged process, leading to irregular shedding of the endometrium.

The clinical manifestations are prolonged menstruation, up to 9 or 10 days, and heavy bleeding. Some women even have prolonged menstruation, but the menstrual cycle is normal.

Patients with irregular endometrial shedding are advised to check their basal body temperature, which is biphasic but decreases slowly. A diagnostic curettage is performed on the 5th to 6th day of the menstrual period. The scraped endometrial tissue is sent for pathological examination and the diagnosis can be confirmed if it shows a secretory endometrium.

Treatment options: 1. Progesterone: Take medroxyprogesterone 10 mg orally, once a day, for 10 to 14 days starting 1 to 2 days after ovulation or 10 to 14 days before the next menstrual period. Patients who are planning to become pregnant can choose to have progesterone injected intramuscularly. Take 20 mg each time for 5 consecutive days. You can also take progesterone capsules orally, 0.1 gram each time, twice a day. 2. Patients who require contraceptives can take oral combined short-acting contraceptives, such as Marvelon, Yasmin, etc., one tablet per day starting from the 5th day of menstruation for 21 consecutive days. 2. Chorionic gonadotropin, 6000 to 10000 units to promote ovulation when the follicles are mature.

In daily life, you should pay attention to regulating your emotions, maintaining an optimistic attitude, not putting too much pressure on yourself, supplementing nutrition in a balanced way, maintaining a regular schedule, and exercising appropriately. This is very helpful in regulating endocrine balance and can effectively relieve menstrual disorders.
