What is ligation surgery?

What is ligation surgery?

Sterilization is a contraceptive method chosen by many people. There are many contraceptive methods, such as condoms, emergency contraceptive pills, contraceptive rings, etc. Sterilization is a better contraceptive method. Although sterilization has good contraceptive effects, not everyone is suitable for sterilization. However, many people still don’t understand what sterilization is. What is sterilization? Let’s take a look at it next.

1. What is ligation surgery?

Ligation refers to the use of certain means (such as catgut) to tie up certain tubes of the human body or organism (such as blood vessels, vas deferens, fallopian tubes, etc.) or to achieve the same effect. "Vascular ligation" is often considered a minor surgery.

Sometimes, "vasectomy" is used specifically to refer to vasectomy, which was originally a permanent, irreversible contraceptive procedure, but now medicine has made it possible to perform vasectomy reversal and fallopian tube reversal.

II. History

Tubal ligation has been widely performed in my country for 40 years. The commonly used methods in China include incision of the mesotubation and partial resection of the fallopian tube (including proximal and end embedding methods), double-fold fallopian tube ligation and resection, fallopian tube compression ligation and fallopian tube fimbria resection. Tubal ligation surgical routes include abdominal, anterior and posterior vaginal fornix and groin. Abdominal surgery is currently recommended. With the improvement of surgical techniques and the updating of surgical instruments, the abdominal incision has been significantly reduced, the operation time has been significantly shortened, and the irritation of the instruments has also been reduced. Many regions have developed fallopian tube silver clips and titanium clips, which can also achieve the purpose of blocking the fallopian tube lumen.

3. Medical sterilization

Medical sterilization does not require surgery. It is a method of sterilization that involves injecting chemical drugs into the fallopian tube through the vagina and the uterine cavity to block the fallopian tube lumen. Since the drugs currently used are corrosive and the blocking technique requires high standards, improper use of the technique may cause serious reactions. If one wants to get pregnant again for some reason, there is almost no chance of restoration of the blockage, so this technique has not yet been promoted. The drugs used also need to be improved. Foreign countries have been exploring fallopian tube sterilization drugs for more than 100 years, but have not yet achieved satisfactory results. The compound phenol paste developed in my country has passed drug identification, but there are still certain problems that need further research and improvement.
