Another rare type is Norwegian scabies, a severe form of scabies that occurs mostly in people who are weak or immunocompromised. The rash is widespread and has a distinctive odor.

Infants and children have a thin stratum corneum and their skin lesions are peculiar. The lesions are polymorphic and may be similar to papular urticaria, eczema, etc., often involving the head, face, palms and soles, which are not easily affected by adults.

The main preparations are for external use to kill scabies. All patients who occur in groups or are family members should be treated at the same time.
