What does uterine erosion feel like?

What does uterine erosion feel like?

Cervical erosion is a common disease in normal times, but cervical erosion is divided into mild, moderate and severe. Usually mild cervical erosion does not require treatment, but moderate cervical erosion needs timely treatment, otherwise the condition will worsen. People with cervical erosion will have some symptoms in their bodies. You can judge whether you have cervical erosion based on these symptoms. You must develop good hygiene habits in your daily life.

What are the symptoms of cervical erosion?

The symptoms of cervical erosion are quite typical. Affected by the secretion of estrogen, to the naked eye, the external opening of the cervix is a granular red area, as if "erosion" has occurred.

Earlier textbooks listed "cervical erosion" as one of the symptoms of chronic cervicitis, believing that the size of the area is a measure of the severity of the inflammation. An area less than 1/3 is mild, 1/3-2/3 is moderate, and more than 2/3 is severe. However, this is actually just the different degrees of eversion of the columnar epithelium after being affected by estrogen, which is a normal physiological phenomenon.

It should be noted that cervical erosion should be differentiated from cervicitis. If there is an increase in vaginal discharge, it becomes yellow, and has an odor, these are manifestations of cervical inflammation, which are symptoms that occur after an infection occurs on the cervix. The cyst and hypertrophy of the cervix are also the result of chronic cervical inflammation. Once symptoms of cervicitis appear, you should seek medical attention as soon as possible and do not delay the treatment.

What causes cervical erosion?

Cervical erosion refers to the displacement of the squamous epithelium on the outside of the cervical opening and the columnar epithelium on the inside of the cervix at the junction. This phenomenon is a physiological change caused by estrogen in the female body. Cervical erosion lasts for decades from a woman's puberty. As for why some people have it and some don't, it depends on their physical constitution.

There are two types of epithelium on the surface of the female cervix during embryogenesis: primitive squamous epithelium and columnar epithelium. Before puberty, the original "squamo-columnar junction" is located inside the cervical canal. After puberty, under the action of estrogen, the volume of the cervix grows rapidly and greatly exceeds the uterine body, and "cervical ectropion" occurs. Ectropion exposes the cervical columnar epithelium at the external os of the cervix, which appears red and rough. The red color is because the columnar epithelium is arranged in a single layer with a rich vascular network underneath. The roughness is because the columnar epithelium fuses with each other to form villi or granular shapes.

What is cervical erosion?

Cervical erosion refers to the displacement of the squamous epithelium on the outside of the cervical os and the columnar epithelium on the inside of the cervix at the junction. Cervical erosion is a normal physiological phenomenon caused by hormones.

Because the female cervix is red and looks like skin erosion like eczema, this phenomenon is called "cervical erosion". In fact, there is no real erosion there. It is just that due to the influence of hormones, the squamous epithelium on the outside of the cervical os and the columnar epithelium on the inside of the cervix are displaced at the junction. Because the columnar epithelium is thinner, whenever more of the columnar epithelium is exposed, the blood vessels underneath will be exposed, making the area appear reddish.

Many baby girls even have "cervical erosion" as soon as they are born, but newborn babies do not have cervical damage. They are just affected by the increased hormone levels in their mothers' bodies during pregnancy. After leaving the mother's body, this "erosion" of the baby girl will also subside.
