Postpartum thyroid nodules

Postpartum thyroid nodules

After giving birth, women may suffer from many diseases due to the sudden decrease of hormones in their bodies. At this time, they need to adjust well to avoid leaving sequelae. Postpartum thyroid nodules are a disease that many women will experience. Generally, these nodules are benign and can be treated with medication, and the chance of cure is very high. Let’s take a look at the symptoms of postpartum thyroid nodules.

1. Recurrence rate of thyroid nodules

Thyroid nodules are a female disease, accounting for more than 70% of the total number, and the majority of nodules occur in women after pregnancy. The probability of nodules increases with the number of pregnancies, so what about the recurrence of thyroid nodules?

The human body has an endocrine system that secretes hormones. Pregnant women also secrete progesterone. The hormone levels in the body increase to varying degrees during pregnancy, so pregnant women look happier. After childbirth, the body's endocrine system undergoes dramatic changes, which are also the basis of postpartum depression.

Hormonal changes, lack of Qi and blood in women after childbirth or surgery, depression, breastfeeding and bad mood can all lead to an imbalance in thyroid hormones. Most nodules are not felt when they are discovered, but they are found to be large. Many patients undergo surgical resection according to Western medicine plans. Infants and young children who are only a few months old are weaned, mothers feel tired during breastfeeding, and their physical recovery is not very good. The surgery brings a lot of physical and psychological trauma.

After examination, most postpartum nodules are normal, and since there is no obvious discomfort, most of them are benign nodules and can be treated conservatively with medication, with rapid efficacy and a high cure rate. At the same time, the diet is coordinated with the doctor's advice, the body is nourished, and the nodules can recover quickly.

1. In the early stage, the thyroid gland will be accompanied by mild edema, softness, etc. As the glands enlarge, nodules may appear and, if swelling is severe, compression may occur. The age of onset of thyroid disease is generally between 40 and 60 years old, and the incidence rate in women is generally higher than that in men.

2. Sudden attacks are accompanied by fever and swelling or swelling on one or both sides, which may be single or multiple, with local pain, and significant pain and tenderness radiating to the back of the ear and the back of the head from the thyroid gland.

3. The thyroid gland may be single or multiple, O-shaped or semicircular, with a smooth surface, no adhesions, and can move up and down. It is slightly harder than a normal gland, and the tenderness of the lump can persist for a long time or grow slowly.

4. The thyroid nodules are clearly demarcated from the surrounding tissues. Most of them have a radius of 1 to 2 cm. The nodules are hard and have the same hardness as solid tumors. Small cysts are asymptomatic, while giant cysts can cause compression syndrome.
