What is the intraplacental blood pool?

The placental blood pool (also called the embryonic venous pool) is located in the villus-free area in the center of the embryonic villus. It is a large nearly annular shadow in the embryonic essence. It can be seen that fine light spots are injected from the outer wall into the dark area. If the range is large, it will affect the exchange of villus blood. Placental blood pool is generally harmless to the fetus. Pay attention to get more rest. If you feel any discomfort, see a doctor immediately for examination.

Due to abnormal vascular rupture, a placental blood pool is formed. It is in the villus-free area in the center of the embryonic villus. A large near-annular shadow in the embryonic villus shows that fine light spots are injected from the outer wall into the dark area. If the range is large, it will affect the exchange of villus blood.

The so-called blood pool refers to the phenomenon of fetal bleeding in the embryo. After the fetal bleeding stops, the blood pool will stop expanding, and will continue to slowly dissipate and clear out of the body. The possibility of this phenomenon is related to the environment or external force damage. After the blood pool is found, you should pay attention to rest, and conduct regular inspections to check whether there is any blood clot expansion.

Placental blood pooling is common, and unless it is large, it is generally not a concern. Pay attention to the changes in the fetus and if there is abnormal bleeding. After bleeding occurs, pregnant women should first see a doctor and undergo an outpatient B-ultrasound examination to determine whether there is placenta previa or placental abruption and whether the fetus is alive.

Placental blood pools are relatively common in clinical color ultrasound examinations. Under normal circumstances, especially small blood pools, do not have a major impact on the fetus, and pregnant women will not feel significant discomfort. Large blood pools may be associated with poor fetal outcomes, such as restricted intrauterine growth and development, sudden intrauterine death, and small for gestational age. If the placental blood pool is close to the internal cervical os, internal bleeding may occur during delivery, which will have adverse effects on the fetus and pregnant mother. Studies have shown that a blood pool volume of >20 m3 can affect the fetus's umbilical venous circulation system.

If a placental blood pool is found during pregnancy, if the area is small, it is recommended to closely observe whether it is expanding; if the blood pool is large, it may cause delayed language development of the fetus and further examination and treatment are needed. Pregnant women should pay special attention to avoid strenuous activities, get more rest, maintain a stable mood, and balance nutrition. If bleeding occurs, seek medical attention immediately.
