If the birth canal is torn and the sutures are sutured surgically, the wound can usually be removed 5 days later. The skin nerves at the tear are damaged, causing pain. Over time, the pain will gradually decrease.

What should you pay attention to after the birth canal is torn open?

1. Keep the vulva clean to avoid infection. Wash the private parts with cold water after urinating. There is no need to add cleaning liquid or detergent to the water. When cleaning the private parts, follow the order from top to bottom and from inside to outside, that is, wipe the pubic area and the private parts on both sides first, and finally wipe the anus.

2. Choose to sleep on the side opposite to the wound. For example, if the wound on the vulva is on the left, lie on the right side to avoid the lochia from the mother being introduced into the wound and increase the chance of infection.

3. Keep bowel movements smooth to prevent wounds from splitting. When defecating, it is best to sit down and keep the time as short as possible.

4. During the recovery period of wound surgery, there is no need to sit or stand for a long time, nor to make large movements. If the wound opens after the stitches are removed, seek medical attention immediately.

5. If part of the wound becomes red, swollen, hot, painful, and sometimes accompanied by a lump, or if there is purulent secretion when squeezed, you should tell your doctor immediately.

6. Avoid sexual intercourse within 6 weeks after delivery.
