What to do if you have a sore throat when you are pregnant

The physique of pregnant women is very special. 1. Try a salt compress. Here's how: Mix 2 cups of sea salt with 5 to 6 teaspoons of warm water. The sea salt should be moist, not wet. 4. Try steam inhalation to relieve your pain. Run very scalding hot water in the sink. Wrap a towel around your head to surround yourself with the steam and tilt your head sideways as the water runs. Take a deep breath, drawing the steam into your mouth and nose, and do this for about 5 to 10 minutes. Repeat several times a day.

5. Eat some zinc cough drops. Although the infection is still there, studies have found that zinc can relieve some other cold symptoms, such as sore throat.

6. You can put a hot pad on your throat and press gently. You can also try a chamomile poultice. To make it, mix 1 teaspoon of dried chamomile flowers with 1 to 2 cups of boiling water and soak for 5 minutes. When the chamomile is fully soaked, pour out the water and wrap the chamomile in gauze or cheesecloth and apply directly. When the compress thickens, remove it and repeat this process several times.

Over-the-counter medications.

If your symptoms aren't relieved with the above methods, there are several over-the-counter medications you can consider.

1. Throat lozenges: Most over-the-counter throat lozenges are safe and effective. The local anesthetic it contains can effectively relieve throat pain. Alternatively, ordinary cough drops may also come in handy.

2. Decongestant: This medicine can shrink the nasal mucosa, allowing nasal breathing to be smoother. It has a good therapeutic effect on sore throat caused by nasal reflux, but the medicine must be used according to the doctor's advice.
