Conization of cervical erosion

Conization of cervical erosion

Conization of cervical erosion is a treatment method for cervical erosion. Currently, many medical institutions recommend this treatment method to patients with cervical erosion. In fact, cervical erosion is not a disease, but a physiological change caused by hormones in the body, so it does not require treatment. There are many areas with backward medical conditions that are still instilling in female friends the harm of cervical erosion to the human body. You can learn about it.

1. Can cervical erosion be cured by cone biopsy?

Ask your doctor, it depends on your individual situation. Cervical erosion does not require medication. Cervical erosion is not an independent disease, but a physiological change caused by sex hormones. The severity of simple columnar epithelial eversion has nothing to do with the disease.

The concept of over-medicalization in clinical practice needs some time to be updated. Domestic medical concepts are outdated, and diagnosis is usually made based on naked eye observation rather than cytopathology, which is also the reason for misunderstandings in the treatment of "cervical erosion". As for the so-called "severe cervical erosion", it is most likely because the patient has other inflammations.

Cervical erosion refers to the displacement of the squamous epithelium on the outside of the cervical opening and the columnar epithelium on the inside of the cervix at the junction. This phenomenon is a physiological change caused by estrogen in the female body. Cervical erosion lasts for decades from a woman's puberty. As for why some people have it and some don't, it depends on their physical constitution.

There are two types of epithelium on the surface of the female cervix during embryogenesis: primitive squamous epithelium and columnar epithelium. Before puberty, the original "squamo-columnar junction" is located inside the cervical canal. After puberty, under the action of estrogen, the volume of the cervix grows rapidly and greatly exceeds the uterine body, and "cervical ectropion" occurs. Ectropion exposes the cervical columnar epithelium at the external os of the cervix, which appears red and rough. The red color is because the columnar epithelium is arranged in a single layer with a rich vascular network underneath. The roughness is because the columnar epithelium fuses with each other to form villi or granular shapes.

2. What are the hazards of cervical erosion?

If your physical examination report says cervical erosion, there may be three situations:

1. It is a normal physiological phenomenon, which is caused by the simple outward migration of columnar epithelium due to hormones. The "erosion" in this case can be repaired by itself due to the change of hormones.

2. The true manifestation of cervical inflammation should also include symptoms such as excessive vaginal discharge and low back pain;

3. It may be a manifestation of early cervical cancer.

Cervical erosion is not a diagnosis, but a description of the appearance of the cervix seen by the naked eye. The so-called erosion is not necessarily true erosion. It may be due to changes in hormone levels in the body, which causes the squamous epithelium of the cervix to fall off and the columnar epithelium to grow outside, making it look like erosion. When you see "cervical erosion" during a physical examination, don't be nervous, but find out which condition you have.

Cervical erosion can be divided into mild, moderate and severe levels. It is just the different degrees of columnar epithelial eversion after being affected by estrogen. They are all normal physiological phenomena and do not require any treatment. Some people may experience contact bleeding, but this is just individual differences in the cervix.

It is important to note that cervical erosion will not cause cervical cancer, but when the cervix is in the early stages of cancer, the appearance of the cervix is no different from "cervical erosion". Therefore, if a physical examination shows a diagnosis of "cervical erosion", the most important thing to do is to screen for cervical cancer.

Before undergoing cervical physical therapy, cervical cancer screening must be performed to avoid masking some symptoms of precancerous lesions and delaying treatment. There are two ways to check for cervical cancer: one is to take cervical secretions, and the other is to perform a simple cytology test. At the same time, cervical cancer is the only cancer with a clear cause so far. It is caused by HPV (human papillomavirus) infection. Being infected with the virus does not necessarily lead to cervical cancer, but cervical cancer is generally caused by infection with this virus. Therefore, in addition to cervical cell analysis, it is best to perform HPV virus testing.
