Some pregnant women have severe back pain at 40 days of pregnancy. What should they do?

I suddenly had severe back pain at 40 days of pregnancy

Abdominal pain in early pregnancy is a very common cause, which is more common than physiological abdominal pain. As the baby grows, the expectant mother's uterus also gradually expands. The enlarged uterus constantly stimulates the lower edge of the ribs, which can cause dull rib pain in expectant mothers. Generally speaking, this is physiological and does not require special treatment. Lying on the left side can help relieve pain. However, if the pain intensifies and is accompanied by vaginal bleeding, it may be a symptom of threatened abortion. It is recommended to go to the hospital for pregnancy check-ups at any time.

What to do if pregnant women have back pain

Massage the waist: Pregnant women may feel discomfort in the waist and back due to changes in body position, but they cannot undergo physical therapy, acupuncture, or apply plasters on the waist. A simple method is to rub your hands together until they are warm, then overlap and place them in the middle of the lumbar spine, pushing and rubbing from top to bottom for 30-50 times until a local heating sensation is generated, which can relieve discomfort in the waist.

Control your weight: In fact, the fetus is very small before this, and most of the weight is on the pregnant woman. The obese body adds a heavy burden to the waist. Therefore, during pregnancy, you should pay attention to a reasonable diet, eat less sweets, do not drink various beverages, do not eat various desserts, including popsicles, ice cream, coffee, chocolate, etc., eat small meals frequently to control your weight during pregnancy within a reasonable range, which is beneficial to the health of the waist.

Calcium supplement: During pregnancy, as the fetus continues to grow and bones form, a large amount of calcium is needed for the fetus to use. The calcium contained in a normal daily diet of expectant mothers is only enough for their own use. Therefore, we generally recommend calcium supplementation in the second trimester, 600 mg per day, and 1000-1200 mg per day in the third trimester. If calcium is not supplemented, the mother will extract calcium from her own bones, pass it through the blood, and then be transported to the fetus through the placenta and umbilical cord for use in the fetus's growth. If calcium is not supplemented during pregnancy, the mother will be calcium deficient at the end of the pregnancy, causing loose teeth and pain in the waist and legs.

Therefore, it is normal for pregnant mothers to have back pain at this time. They need to treat it with a normal mind and not put too much pressure on themselves, especially for first-time mothers. They must not fail at the first stage of giving birth. If they want to relieve the pain at this time, they can choose to lie on their left side. After this period of time, everything will be fine.
