Which is more important, HCG or progesterone?

After a woman becomes pregnant, her body begins to produce a hormone called chorionic gonadotropin. This type of hormone is what we usually call hCG. After the sperm and egg in the female body combine and the embryo implants in the uterus, hCG will be produced. When a woman's pregnancy reaches a certain stage, she will also produce progesterone levels. So which is more important, the hcg or the progesterone level?

In fact, both are very important and have different functions, but they are both of great significance to embryonic development. HCG appears roughly after the female embryo implants, which is 6 days after intercourse, and is an important indicator of early embryonic development.

Generally speaking, hcg will double in size after pregnancy, in other words, it will double every two days. If the hcg doubling is not good, then there may be a problem with the test tube embryo, which may cause the test tube embryo to receive insufficient nutrients. Test tube embryos are more likely to experience delayed development or even arrest. Therefore, in the early stages of pregnancy, you must pay attention to the doubling of hcg. If the doubling situation is not good, effective measures must be taken immediately.

When a woman's pregnancy reaches 7 to 9 weeks, a progesterone hormone is produced under the stimulation of hcg. Progesterone levels increase significantly between 10 and 11 weeks. During pregnancy, the progesterone level in the pregnant woman's body shows a leap-forward increase, and the progesterone level will remain above 15ng/ml. If the secretion of progesterone value is relatively low, it may be that the quality of the fetal sac is not good or there is a problem with the pregnancy.

If the progesterone value is relatively low and the metabolism is insufficient, the chance of miscarriage is very high. Vaginal bleeding may occur, resulting in unstable implantation of the fertilized egg. If you have had a miscarriage before, you need to be more vigilant.

Blood HCG, called human chorionic gonadotropin, is an indicator of early embryonic development. It begins to be secreted on the 6th day after fertilization and can usually be detected in the blood 10 days after fertilization. It is the most sensitive way to diagnose early pregnancy. In the early stages of pregnancy, the blood HCG level will double every 2 days on average. Some women's HCG may not double every 2 days, but the general daily increase rate will reach more than 60% of the previous day's blood HCG. During pregnancy, blood HCG stimulates the corpus luteum in the uterus to produce progesterone. Generally, at 7-9 weeks of pregnancy, progesterone gradually begins to be produced by the embryo. At 10-11 weeks of pregnancy, the embryo's ability to produce progesterone continues to increase. At this time, the embryo's trophoblasts take over progesterone to produce estrogen and maintain pregnancy.
