Congenital inverted nipple cracking

Many women have breasts that are not inverted, and some find out they are unable to breastfeed after giving birth, which is very distressing. Inverted nipple is a common problem, but it is ignored by many women. Congenital inverted and cracked nipples should be treated as early as possible. The formation of this problem is related to congenital maldevelopment and is directly related to the incomplete development of the lactiferous ducts themselves. Certain corrective measures can be taken to restore it to normal.

Specific causes of congenital inverted nipples

1. Hypoplasia of the smooth muscles of the nipple and areola. The nipple has the opening of the lactiferous duct and smooth muscle fibers around the lactiferous duct. The inverted nipple is pulled inward by the muscle fiber bundles surrounding the lactiferous duct and inserted into the nipple dermis. The texture of these muscle bundles is significantly different from that of the lactiferous ducts.

2. The lactiferous duct itself is underdeveloped. Hypoplastic lactiferous ducts fail to ductalize and appear as cords.

3. The lack of supporting tissue under the nipple is also a cause of inverted nipple.

The sooner inverted nipples are corrected, the better. In fact, most inverted nipples can be made protruding by taking some corrective measures.

Specific causes of acquired inverted nipples

1. Clothing is too tight. Especially for women during the period of breast development, if their underwear is too tight, it can easily lead to inverted nipples.

2. Improper use of bra. A bra that is too small, too tight, or used too early can cause inverted nipples.

3. Inverted nipple is also related to genetics. Clinical observation shows that if the mother and her maternal generation or grandmother have a history of inverted nipples, the next generation is more likely to suffer from inverted nipples than normal people.

Inverted nipples are mainly congenital, but can also be caused by trauma or surgery, breast tumors, and fibrosis after mastitis.

The adverse effects of inverted nipples

1. Affecting appearance: Inverted nipples affect the overall beauty of the breasts, just like a person's face is missing an organ, which is unacceptable.

2. Impact on breastfeeding: Inverted nipples make it impossible to breastfeed normally. For those who are planning to have children, it is easy to correct it through surgery.

3. Prone to infection: Dirt accumulates in the inverted nipple, which can easily lead to infection.

How to treat inverted nipples

1. During puberty: Wear a bra that fits you properly and avoid wearing one that is too tight and puts pressure on your nipples.

2. Self-correction method: After discovering inverted nipples, use self-correction methods. Pull the nipples with your hands dozens to hundreds of times a day. Pull the nipples out and hold them for a few seconds before releasing them. Pull them out again after a few seconds, and repeat this process.

3. Suction method: Use the negative pressure generated by an empty syringe or other tools to suck the nipple outward. The suction can be continued for half an hour. After removing the negative pressure suction, try to fix the protruding nipple to prevent it from shrinking inward (but be careful not to clamp it too tightly to cause nipple necrosis). Relax after a few hours. Long-term persistence can restore some inverted nipples. You can also let your relatives (such as lovers, sisters) suck with their mouths to make the nipples protrude outward, but you must control the strength.

4. Surgical correction: For those who do not respond to conservative treatment, surgical correction should be performed before pregnancy or breastfeeding.
