Progesterone and hcg in twin pregnancy

Progesterone and hcg in twin pregnancy

After a woman becomes pregnant with twins, the hCG hormone produced by the metabolism of trophoblasts is very high. Therefore, when checking the hCG and progesterone levels, it will be found that they are more than twice as high as those of pregnant women in the corresponding menopausal period. However, because the exact time of menopause is different for each woman, there is no actual data requirement for what the progesterone and hcg values should be. If the estrogen level is above 30ug/l and hcg doubles every day, it is within the normal range, but a color Doppler ultrasound is required to check the embryonic buds and fetal heart rates of the twins.

Twin babies refer to two fetuses in the uterine cavity during one pregnancy, that is, twin pregnancy. On the 6th day after fertilization, the trophoblasts of the late embryos begin to secrete hCG and gradually increase. The early hcg level in twin pregnancies is significantly higher than that in single pregnancies. The progesterone value during pregnancy is mainly metabolized by the embryo. The embryo is basically formed during eight to ten weeks of pregnancy. The progesterone value in early pregnancy is mainly metabolized by the corpus luteum of pregnancy. The difference in progesterone between single and twin babies is not very large, about 15-30ng/ml. Therefore, for twin babies, hcg should be looked at instead of progesterone value.

For twin babies, hcg is checked. Human chorionic gonadotropin is a growth hormone metabolized by the somatic cells of the embryo after pregnancy. This type of growth hormone doubles on the second day after pregnancy. When pregnant with twins, human chorionic gonadotropin will be much higher than the normal pregnancy month, but it is normal for it to double the next day. This situation does not rule out the possibility of twins. When you are about eight weeks pregnant, you can go to the hospital for an ultrasound examination to diagnose whether it is twins or singletons, whether it is dizygotic twins or monozygotic twins. At this time, ultrasound examination can make the diagnosis.

If a large amount of corpus luteum copper is used in the early stages of pregnancy, the risk of deformities in the fetus's spine, anus, limbs, etc. can be increased by 8 times. If synthetic progesterone is used (such as norethindrone, which has a masculinizing effect), about 18% of female fetuses will be masculine.

However, under normal circumstances where progesterone levels are insufficient, the use of corpus luteum copper is not likely to cause harm. Therefore, we must correctly understand corpus luteum copper, correctly deal with the different factors of miscarriage, correctly deal with pregnancy maintenance, and avoid doing the wrong thing with good intentions.
