What to do with paronychia during pregnancy

If you get paronychia during pregnancy, you don't need to be too nervous. You should actively seek treatment. It is best to go to the hospital for treatment under the guidance of a doctor. Never use medication blindly. While actively treating the disease, you also need to do a good job of care at ordinary times. You must develop good hygiene habits, cut your nails frequently, and wash your hands frequently to avoid infection. Pregnant women with paronychia need to be taken seriously, but active treatment will generally not affect the fetus.

What should pregnant women do if they have paronychia?

1. It is best to go to the hospital and ask a surgeon to diagnose and treat you.

2. If you are busy with work or study and have no time to see a doctor, you can go to the nearest small clinic. Of course, you must go to a small clinic with qualified doctors. The doctors there will treat you according to your local condition.

3. While doing local treatment, be sure to use anti-inflammatory green treatment drugs. It is best to use cephalosporin antibiotics, which are quick to take effect and not too expensive. You can also use other cephalosporins or antibiotics that are sensitive to them as green anti-inflammatory therapies. To this end, you must listen to the advice of your surgeon and not use green therapies at will.

4. While infusing, using some auxiliary green therapy drugs to cooperate with the treatment will have a better effect. Oral green therapy drugs can play a certain role in the recovery of local skin and mucous membranes.

Nails have a protective function for us and look very strong and hard, but if we are not careful we may develop paronychia. There are many ways to treat paronychia, but pregnant women should still be especially careful. Depending on the specific situation, patients can go to a professional and regular hospital for detailed consultation to ensure the health of the pregnant woman.

Paronychia is divided into three stages according to its development process: Stage I: inflammatory stage; Stage II: abscess stage; Stage III: granulation stage.

For stage I, conservative treatment can cure it. The method is as follows: soak your feet intermittently in warm water every day; wear shoes with a cut front and do not put pressure on them; stuff cotton wool into the corner of the nail and gently lift the toenail. Repeat the above treatment every day, and it will usually be cured in 2 to 3 weeks.

For stage II and III, early stage II may be effective if antibiotics are taken in combination with stage I treatment methods. Ineffective and stage III cases must undergo surgical treatment to have a chance of cure. Surgical treatment includes nail removal (or partial nail removal), drainage, and antibiotic treatment.

Paronychia may recur, mainly because when the doctor removes the nail, he only removes the toenail but does not remove the "germinal nail" at the same time. Therefore, it still has the same function as the original toenail, so it recurs. All doctors can remove nails, and even you can do it yourself. The details represent the professional level and also determine the severity of your illness. At the same time, the way of cutting toenails also affects the occurrence of this disease. Some people like to cut their toenails very short and round, but this is actually wrong. It can easily cause the toenails to be embedded in the surrounding nail folds, triggering the occurrence of this disease.

Therefore, it is correct to treat the symptoms and adopt different treatment methods for paronychia at different stages. To prevent recurrence, it is best to start by changing your lifestyle habits.
