The winter vacation has officially begun. It is a long-awaited relief for children, but due to the cold weather, the time for outdoor activities is reduced, and many children begin to let themselves go at home. Parents have posted photos of their children's weird eye behaviors during the winter vacation, such as lying down to play with mobile phones, lying on their stomachs to write, playing games under the covers... A series of weird eye behaviors have resonated with parents, but don't underestimate the harm, as these behaviors may seriously affect children's eyesight! Zhu Lina, director of Tianjin University Aier Eye Hospital, said that poor eye posture may lead to myopia. Wrong sitting posture, lying down or lying on one's stomach to look at things will make the eyes unconsciously too close to things. Long-term close-range eye use will increase the burden on the eyes, and the ciliary muscles will be contracted for a long time without relaxation, which will increase the risk of myopia. In addition, excessive use of eyes can also lead to myopia. During the holidays, children are at home and use their mobile phones, watch TV, and play computer games for a long time, which are prone to excessive use of eyes. Adhering to more than two hours of outdoor exercise every day to let the eyes fully bathe in sunlight is very helpful for myopia prevention and control. However, the temperature is low during the winter vacation, so parents must keep their children warm when taking them out for outdoor sports. If the weather is not suitable for outdoor exercise, how can you protect your eyes at home during the winter vacation? 1. Control the usage time of electronic products. The occurrence and development of myopia is closely related to long-term close-up use of the eyes. Parents can teach their children the 20-20-20 eye protection rule: after using the eyes for 20 minutes at close range, move your eyes to a place 20 feet away (about 6 meters) and look out for at least 20 seconds. This will allow the eyes to get a timely rest and relax to avoid visual fatigue. 2. Pay attention to standard reading and writing posture. Keep your eyes one foot away from the book, your chest one fist away from the desk, and your hand one inch away from the tip of the pen. Do not read while lying down or lying on your stomach. 3. Use your eyes to illuminate the environment appropriately. If the light is too bright during the day, it is advisable to use curtains to block out the light. If the light is insufficient, use the ceiling light in the room first. If the light is too dark, use both the ceiling light and the table lamp. 4. Get enough sleep. Adequate sleep can give the eyes sufficient rest. It is recommended that primary school students sleep no less than 10 hours a day, junior high school students no less than 9 hours, and high school students no less than 8 hours a day, and avoid staying up late. 5. Get your eyesight checked regularly. Carry out the “four checks” for myopia management and pay timely attention to children’s eye health. |
