How long can ovulation be delayed?

Women's ovulation period, like their menstrual period, is related to their living habits, daily diet, and life stress. Although there are fixed rules to follow, they will also undergo temporary changes based on these situations. If a woman's menstrual period is advanced or delayed, her ovulation period will also change. The general ovulation period is within ten days. This article introduces the relevant content about ovulation period, let’s take a look.

1. Will ovulation be delayed?

As the pace of modern life continues to accelerate, women are increasingly affected by the real environment. In addition, women's emotions, diet, and lifestyle habits all affect their normality. When a woman with a relatively regular life rhythm suddenly changes her life rhythm, her menstrual period may be advanced or delayed, and the length of the ovulation period will fluctuate with the change in the menstrual period. Therefore, the ovulation period of 10 days is an approximate statement, but in fact, the ovulation period of women is generally less than 10 days.

2. Calculation method of ovulation period

Female ovulation is affected by endocrine hormones from the pituitary gland and ovaries and changes periodically. The length of the cycles of the two is the same, with one cycle per month, and ovulation occurs between two menstrual periods. Women's menstrual cycles vary in length, but the interval between ovulation and the start of the next menstruation is relatively fixed, usually around 14 days. Based on the relationship between ovulation and menstruation, the ovulation period can be calculated according to the menstrual cycle.

The calculation method is to count from the first day of the next menstrual period, and count down 14 days or subtract 14 days to get the ovulation day. The ovulation day and the 5 days before and 4 days after the ovulation day are called the ovulation period. This is also the theoretical basis of the safe period contraceptive method, because in the menstrual cycle, except for the menstrual period and ovulation period, the rest of the time is the safe period.

For example, if the menstrual cycle is 30 days, the first day of this menstruation is September 29, then the next menstruation will be on October 29 (September 29 plus 30 days), and then subtract 14 days from October 29, then October 15 is the ovulation day. The ovulation day and the 5 days before and 4 days after, that is, the ten days from October 10th to 19th are the ovulation period.
