What to do if you always feel dizzy during pregnancy

In our lives, many pregnant women will experience dizziness during pregnancy, and most of them will experience dizziness in the early stages of pregnancy. Because in the early stages of pregnancy, pregnant women are just pregnant and their bodies may not have adapted to the presence of the fetus. During this period, the progesterone in the body will rise rapidly, and the body will naturally change. So what should you do if you always feel dizzy during pregnancy?

Dizziness during pregnancy is a common phenomenon. Pregnant women usually experience dizziness in the early and middle stages of pregnancy. Due to the formation of the placenta, blood pressure drops to a certain extent. Once blood pressure drops, blood flow to the brain will decrease, resulting in insufficient blood supply to the brain, causing cerebral ischemia and hypoxia, thereby causing dizziness. This temporary lack of blood supply to the brain will gradually improve as the heart rate increases and cardiac output increases, and the dizziness will gradually disappear. Generally, it will return to normal after 7 months of pregnancy.

1. Early pregnancy reaction

Dizziness in early pregnancy is a normal early pregnancy reaction. Because there is a new life in the mother's uterus, the new life needs blood supply. Some of the blood will flow down to the uterus to nourish the fetus, resulting in insufficient blood supply to the mother's head, causing dizziness. It can be relieved by resting, listening to music, diverting attention, etc. It usually disappears after three months of pregnancy along with the disappearance of early pregnancy reactions.

2. Hypoglycemia

Dizziness and lightheadedness are among the most common symptoms of hypoglycemia in pregnant women, and often occur in the afternoon and evening when the stomach is empty. In mild cases, the patient may feel dizzy, unsteady on his feet, or experience black spots in front of his eyes, blurred vision, or even fainting when he suddenly stands up or walks. Hypoglycemia does not only occur when the nutritional needs are high in the middle and late stages of pregnancy. Due to the increase of progesterone in the blood of pregnant women during early pregnancy, pregnancy reactive vomiting occurs. In addition, women generally eat less at this time and their bodies consume a lot of energy, so it can also aggravate symptoms of hypoglycemia such as dizziness.

3. Low blood pressure causes insufficient blood supply to the brain

Low blood pressure is mainly caused by insufficient Qi and blood in the body, and pregnant women are more likely to suffer from low blood pressure. If an expectant mother has low blood pressure, she generally does not need any special treatment if the condition is mild. It is recommended that expectant mothers with low blood pressure should not squat or stand up too hard, and it is best to hold the handrail when taking the elevator to prevent falling.

4. Anemia

Anemia is also one of the main causes of dizziness in pregnant women. During pregnancy, the amount of blood in the expectant mother's body increases, that is, the blood cells and plasma in the blood both increase, but the increase in plasma is greater than that in red blood cells, resulting in the dilution of the red blood cell content in the blood. For some pregnant women, iron intake from diet alone is sometimes not enough to meet the body's needs. For pregnant women with obvious iron deficiency anemia, they can take iron supplements that are easily accepted and absorbed by the gastrointestinal tract under the guidance of a doctor. It is not advisable to take large amounts of iron supplements suddenly during pregnancy, because excessive amounts may cause gastrointestinal discomfort and constipation.
