What are the symptoms of breast suppuration during lactation?

Mastitis is a disease that greatly increases the incidence of women during breastfeeding. During breastfeeding, women need to feed their babies frequently, and sometimes the babies will bite their breasts. If the care is not proper, women are very likely to suffer from mastitis, and in severe cases, they may even develop symptoms of breast suppuration. Symptoms of suppuration in women's breasts must be treated promptly, otherwise it may lead to serious illness. So what are the symptoms of breast suppuration during lactation?

There will be milk abscesses in the breast, which will be very painful locally. In severe cases, sepsis and bacteremia may occur. If patients have these complications, they will usually have systemic symptoms, such as persistent high fever and flushed face. If this happens again, you must go to the hospital for examination in time before taking medication to prevent the disease from developing into more serious consequences.

When a patient develops an abscess in the breast, the abscess will be mobile and will rupture outward in the breast fistula. After rupture, a skin break or a breast fistula will be formed. When severe mastitis occurs, active treatment must be taken. Antibiotics can be used at the beginning of treatment, which can suppress the condition of the body without causing serious conditions. If necessary, surgical treatment can be used.

Treatment of suppurative mastitis

1. When mastitis becomes suppurative, it is mostly caused by streptococcal or staphylococcal infection. Especially if the breasts are not emptied in time after delivery, infection is likely to occur, especially when bacteria enter the mammary glands, which can easily cause suppurative mastitis.

2. When suppurative mastitis occurs, you need to support the breasts with a bandage or a bra. If it is in the early stages and only milk is accumulated in the breasts, you can continue breastfeeding. As long as the milk is emptied in time, the swelling and pain can be relieved in time.

3. When suppurative mastitis occurs, local ice compress can also be used to reduce milk secretion and make the condition more serious. If the symptoms of mastitis are severe, breastfeeding may need to be suspended.

4. When breastfeeding is suspended, the milk in the breasts needs to be drained to prevent milk accumulation in the breasts and aggravate the condition. Local moist heat or physical therapy can be used to localize the inflammation.
