Reasons for delayed and early menstruation

Women's menstruation is not always on time, but as long as the time difference is not too big, it is a relatively normal phenomenon. But some women find that their menstrual periods are very irregular, sometimes delayed and sometimes early, often catching women off guard. If menstruation is often irregular, women should pay attention to regulating their bodies. So, what are the reasons for women's delayed and early menstruation?

Whether menstruation is normal can be said to a certain extent to truly reflect whether a woman is healthy, but irregular and delayed menstruation is still relatively common. Although irregular and delayed menstruation can play a role in delaying aging, we should still be particularly vigilant about this phenomenon. However, there are also great differences in the reasons for delayed menstruation at different ages.

Adolescent girls: The most common cause of delayed menstruation is anovulatory menstrual disorders caused by the incomplete regulation of the hypothalamus-pituitary-ovarian axis. Its characteristics are infrequent and irregular menstruation, sudden irregular menstruation, excessive menstruation and prolonged menstruation after a short period of amenorrhea. The symptoms will gradually ease with age after the gonad axis matures, but those with severe symptoms still need treatment.

Women who are married: Women who are married and have irregular or delayed menstruation should first consider whether they are pregnant. Rule out the possibility of pregnancy and then find out the cause, especially those with severe symptoms. According to the cause of the irregular menstruation, it can be divided into organic and functional types.

Menopausal women: Menopausal women's ovaries decline, their reproductive function gradually declines, and their hormone secretion is disordered, which will lead to irregular menstruation cycles. It is characterized by short-term delayed menstruation, excessive endometrial hyperplasia, excessive and irregular menstruation, and continuous spotting, which often requires curettage or the use of sex hormone drugs to stop bleeding.

Causes of premature menstruation caused by organic diseases or drugs

Caused by organic diseases or drugs, including local inflammation, tumors and developmental abnormalities, malnutrition of reproductive organs; intracranial diseases; other endocrine dysfunctions such as thyroid gland.

Endocrine disorders can cause early menstruation due to neuroendocrine dysfunction: mainly due to unstable or defective function of the hypothalamus-pituitary-ovarian axis, that is, menstrual disorders. People who have excessive Yang energy in their body, or who consume too much spicy food and supplements, or who are depressed, or who have lost a lot of blood due to long-term illness, are prone to having hot blood. When the blood becomes hot, it flows more slowly and the rate of blood flow also increases, causing menstruation to come earlier.

The Qi deficiency doctor said that people who overwork or have irregular diets are most likely to damage their spleen, just like me. Because the spleen is the "manager" of blood, once the "manager" is in a weak position, the "managed" will inevitably want to rebel, so menstruation comes early. If there is no fire in the pulse, then the menstruation is early or late because the heart and spleen are weak, so it cannot come on time. Blood heat is very likely to occur in people with excessive yang energy, those who are depressed, those who eat spicy food and take supplements, or those who have lost a lot of blood due to long-term illness. When the blood is hot, it will flow more quickly, which will lead to early menstruation.

Fertility status Early menstruation is also related to fertility status. The older the age at conception, the earlier the menopause, and the fewer pregnancies, the earlier the menopause. This is because the older the age of first pregnancy, the fewer pregnancies there are, which causes women to ovulate more frequently and reach menopause earlier.

In addition, the longer the breastfeeding period, the later the menopause. This is because ovulation will be affected during breastfeeding. If the breastfeeding period is prolonged, the number of ovulation will decrease, so the menopause will be later. Conversely, the shorter the breastfeeding period, the earlier the menopause. The color, quantity, quality and duration of early menstruation are basically the same as those of normal menstruation, while bleeding during menstruation often occurs on the 12th to 16th day of the menstrual period, lasting about 1 to 2 hours or 2 to 3 days, and the amount of menstruation is generally less.
