Do I need to have a uterine curettage after the gestational sac comes out?

Do I need to have a uterine curettage after the gestational sac comes out?

Generally, abortion can be achieved through medical abortion and induced labor. The former only requires taking some medicines, and if the gestational sac is discharged cleanly, there is no need for curettage. The latter is to induce labor to lead the fetus out of the pregnant mother, and then perform a curettage. So, if the gestational sac is expelled during miscarriage, is it necessary to perform a uterine curettage?

After a normal abortion, young women will experience vaginal bleeding for three to seven days after the gestational sac is discharged. This is a normal blood stasis discharge phenomenon. If there is still blood in the uterine cavity during a follow-up ultrasound one week later, it indicates the possibility of incomplete abortion. If there is no special discomfort, you can pay attention to keeping the abdomen warm and try taking blood stasis-discharging medicine first, such as taking some motherwort paste, etc. Go to the hospital for a follow-up ultrasound in a few days. If the blood still cannot be discharged, it is best to undergo a uterine curettage surgery immediately.

However, if the fetal sac is completely expelled, it means that the abortion is successful and generally no curettage is required. At this time, women who have had miscarriage do not need to worry too much. They just need to pay attention to rest, improve nutrition and treatment, and speed up recovery. It is normal to have bleeding within 2 weeks after the fetal sac is expelled. This does not mean that the bleeding is complete. It takes more than a week to go to the hospital for a follow-up B-ultrasound to understand whether it is a complete miscarriage. If the miscarriage is complete, no uterine curettage is required.

Therefore, even if the gestational sac is expelled from the body after an abortion, a uterine curettage is not necessarily required. However, an ultrasound examination should be done one week after the abortion to see whether the gestational sac is completely expelled. If not, a uterine curettage is still required. Here, the editor would like to remind female friends that miscarriage is also very damaging to the body. After abortion, you must pay more attention to rest and replenish nutrition.
