Breast pain during lactation

Breast pain during lactation

Breastfeeding is a happy and unique experience for new mothers, but some new mothers will suffer from various breast pains at the beginning of breastfeeding. This pain even makes some new mothers give up breastfeeding forever. So, how can new mothers prevent and solve this breast pain during breastfeeding?

Painful, swollen breasts!

Breast pain after childbirth is a very common condition among new mothers. It often occurs on the first day after childbirth. It is a normal reaction caused by swelling of the breast veins and lymphatic system after childbirth.

To solve the problem of breast swelling caused by vaccination, intervention must be carried out before the breast swelling causes damage to the breast tissue. To avoid this kind of physiological breast pain, new mothers should do the "three early" things, namely early contact, early sucking, and early milk release. The baby's regular and effective sucking is an important measure to promote the smoothness of the mammary ducts. The sooner the baby starts sucking, the better the mother's mammary ducts can be unblocked. Then, the secretion of milk will be smoother, and the breasts will not be so swollen and uncomfortable.

In addition, milk-inducing soups such as pig's trotter soup and fresh fish soup are not suitable to be consumed too early. It is generally recommended to start them one week after giving birth to prevent breast pain caused by milk-inducing too quickly.

For the pain caused by breast swelling, you can use ice compress to get rid of the pain as soon as possible, and breastfeed after the ice compress, or immediately seek professional medical staff to massage and unclog the milk ducts. The sooner the treatment effect will be better. However, it is generally not recommended for pregnant women or relatives to massage themselves without the guidance of professional medical staff, so as to avoid damage to the skin and breast tissue of the breast due to improper techniques, which may aggravate the pain.

Pain, milk stasis!

When the mammary ducts are not completely drained, the milk secretion reflex surface is unbalanced, or the hose system is blocked by compression, etc., new mothers may experience breast pain due to milk congestion after giving birth. The main symptoms are breast swelling, lumps and skin erythema.

In addition to the prevention of milk stasis by vaccines, it is also necessary to ensure early breastfeeding, feeding on demand, and building confidence in breastfeeding without putting too much psychological pressure on oneself.

Once milk stasis occurs, you can apply a warm cotton towel to the breast, use manual lactation, or use an electric breast pump to suck after the milk secretion reflection surface for 5-10 minutes, and then switch to the other breast. In addition, applying cabbage or other methods to the breasts for 20 minutes can also alleviate the problem of milk stasis.

It hurts, my milk hose is blocked!

When the milk tube is blocked, it may cause a hard lump in the breast, pain, and red spots on the skin.

To maintain smooth milk tubes, new mothers should breastfeed frequently and continuously after giving birth, and gently tap their breasts and massage them before and during breastfeeding.

Or use an electric breast pump to express milk. If the milk tube blockage cannot be resolved, you can use some anti-inflammatory and analgesic drugs, such as ibuprofen granules, under the guidance of a doctor. If the milk ducts are still blocked after conservative treatment, the milk ducts can be cleaned under a mammoscope.

Painful, cracked nipples!

Because novice mothers are not proficient in breastfeeding techniques, and the breastfeeding posture is not right, the baby cannot properly suck the nipple, but only bites the nipple without holding most of the nipple in his mouth. Under this kind of frequent stretching and stimulation, it is easy to tear the mother's tender nipple, causing nipple cracks and severe pain when breastfeeding next time.

Vaccines for the prevention and treatment of childbirth When breastfeeding, mothers must have the correct posture. They can breastfeed their babies while squatting or lying down, as long as they feel comfortable. It is best to breastfeed while sitting on a low stool or leaning against a backrest. If the sitting position is high, you can put one foot on a small stool and put a pillow on your knees. This can not only raise the baby but also reduce the weight borne by the mother, making the mother feel more relaxed.
