Nipple pain during breastfeeding should not be touched

Babies get milk by sucking their mother's nipples, but because female nipples are very fragile, many babies suck their mother's nipples too hard, causing pain in the mother's nipples. Some breastfeeding mothers even have nipples that hurt so much that they cannot even touch them, which makes them very uncomfortable. So how can breastfeeding mothers relieve nipple pain?

This situation is likely to be a local inflammatory infection caused by the nipple being bitten by the baby. In this case, breastfeeding on this side must be suspended, otherwise it will easily cause severe mastitis or even sepsis.

The common causes of nipple rupture during lactation are weak nipple skin, local uncleanliness, too little milk, nipple retraction, or baby sucking. These are the more common causes. It is recommended that you pay attention to the cleanliness of your breasts and nipples. If the rupture is accompanied by infection, the affected breast should stop breastfeeding. The milk should be sucked out every time breastfeeding, and the nipples should be cleaned after breastfeeding.

The following measures should be taken to treat nipple cracks during lactation:

1. When breastfeeding, you should start with the breast that is less painful to reduce the sucking force on the other breast, and let the nipple and part of the areola be placed in the baby's mouth to prevent the nipple skin from becoming more chapped.

Second, alternate the position of the baby during breastfeeding so that the sucking force is dispersed around the nipple and areola.

3. Breastfeed frequently to facilitate the emptying of milk and soften the areola. Squeeze out a small amount of milk after breastfeeding and apply it on the nipples and areola. Expose and dry the head briefly by placing it close to the window and in the sun. You can also apply a thin layer of water-based lanolin on the nipples.

4. Wear loose clothes after breastfeeding.

5. If you have severe nipple pain or breast swelling
