Polycystic ovary ovulation test strips

Polycystic ovary is a very harmful gynecological disease. Once you are sick, you will have symptoms such as obesity, infertility, and irregular menstruation. Moreover, these symptoms can occur individually and are not easily associated with the disease. Some people who know about polycystic ovary and suspect that they have this disease will use ovulation test strips for testing. So, can polycystic ovary ovulation test strips be detected? Let’s take a look below.

Can polycystic ovary be detected with ovulation test strips?

Patients with polycystic ovary can use ovulation test strips to measure the ovulation period, but the results are not accurate.

1. Ovulation test strips can detect ovulation period

Ovulation test strips mainly detect the peak level of luteinizing hormone (LH) in female urine to determine whether ovulation has occurred in advance.

Although patients with polycystic ovary have ovulation disorders and do not ovulate for a long time, the ovulation test paper can still detect a strong positive result 24-48 hours before ovulation.

2. Ovulation test strips are not accurate in measuring ovulation period

However, if some patients with polycystic ovary test results show a strong positive result using ovulation test strips, it does not necessarily mean that they will ovulate within 24-48 hours. Because polycystic ovary patients have hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian dysfunction and endocrine disorders, their luteinizing hormone levels may be high, but because their estrogen and progesterone levels are also imbalanced, they cannot ovulate normally.

So sometimes polycystic patients use ovulation test strips to test a strong positive, but it is not accurate and cannot predict the ovulation day.

How to accurately detect ovulation in polycystic ovary

Patients with polycystic ovary need to monitor the size and maturity of follicles through B-ultrasound to determine the date of ovulation induction.

Patients with polycystic ovary usually lower their androgen levels after correcting endocrine therapy and start ovulation induction treatment. During this period, B-ultrasound is required to monitor the size of the follicles. When the diameter of the follicles reaches 18-25mm, ovulation induction injections are required under the guidance of a doctor.

Ovulation will occur 24-48 hours after taking the ovulation-stimulating injection, and sperm can remain in the body for one to two days. Therefore, you should have sex within the next 1-2 days to avoid missing the best time for conception.

If you are worried about safety, you can also go to the hospital for B-ultrasound monitoring 2-4 days after taking the ovulation-stimulating injection to see whether ovulation has occurred.
