Does the uterus enlarge during menstruation?

Does the uterus enlarge during menstruation?

The uterus is an oval-shaped organ that is hollow inside but has a lot of tissue distributed inside. When it comes to the issue of uterine enlargement, everyone's first reaction is pregnancy, because there is a fetus in the uterus, and the development of the fetus will cause the area of the uterus to begin to expand. However, other than pregnancy, menstruation will not cause the uterus to enlarge, because there is no connection between menstruation and uterine enlargement. Menstruation only sheds the endometrium.

Methods/Steps

If a woman of childbearing age has sexual life and her menstruation is delayed for more than ten days or even longer, the first thing she should consider is pregnancy. The enlarged uterus is a gravid uterus, which is a normal physiological phenomenon.

If after menopause, the growth rate of the uterus exceeds the growth rate of the uterus during pregnancy, and is accompanied by irregular vaginal bleeding symptoms, it is very likely a hydatidiform mole caused by abnormal proliferation of placental villous trophoblasts after pregnancy.

The surface of the uterus is irregular, and one or more spherical protrusions can be felt. The patient complains of shortened menstrual cycles, prolonged menstrual periods, and increased bleeding, which are often considered to be uterine fibroids.

Endometrial cancer is common in middle-aged and elderly women who have reached menopause. The main symptom is a small amount of non-menstrual bleeding. Early examinations show no abnormalities in the size of the uterus. Only when the disease begins to progress will the uterus slowly grow larger, and B-ultrasound examinations can show it more clearly.

When the endometrial glands invade the myometrium, the uterus will show a uniform increase, but it will basically not exceed the size of the uterus of a normal pregnant woman at 12 weeks. The patient will experience prolonged menstrual periods, increased menstrual flow, and worsening dysmenorrhea year by year, which can be considered as adenomyosis.

Menstruation is regular, cyclical uterine bleeding. It is also called menstruation, menstrual period, menstrual period, and menstrual leave. Strictly speaking, this bleeding should be accompanied by ovarian follicle maturation, ovulation and corpus luteum formation, and the endometrium should undergo changes from proliferation to secretion. However, in clinical practice, uterine bleeding without ovulation is common, which is called anovulatory menstruation.

The first menstrual period is called menarche, which usually occurs between the ages of 13 and 15, but may occur as early as 11 to 12 years old or as late as 17 to 18 years old. The age of menarche in different regions of my country is not much different, but those who are weak or malnourished may have a later menarche, while those who are strong and well-nourished may have an earlier menarche. Menstruation stops spontaneously at around the age of 49, lasting about 35 years.

Menstruation should have normal cycles, periods, volume, color and quality.

The first day of bleeding (i.e. menstruation) is called the beginning of the menstrual cycle. The interval between the first days of two menstrual periods is called a menstrual cycle, which is generally 28 to 30 days, which is about the same as a lunar month. The length of the cycle varies from person to person. Occasionally, a period that is advanced or delayed by no more than 7 days can still be considered normal. That is, the menstrual cycle should not be less than 21 days and not more than 35 days. Menstruation stops during pregnancy and lactation.
