According to the 2009 breast cancer incidence data released by the National Cancer Center and the Disease Prevention and Control Bureau of the Ministry of Health in 2012, the incidence of breast cancer in the national tumor registration areas ranked first among female malignant tumors. The national total incidence rate (crude rate) of female breast cancer was 42.55/100,000, 51.91/100,000 in cities and 23.12/100,000 in rural areas.
