What should I do if I feel uncomfortable during my period?

Women always feel uncomfortable within a few days of each month. Some people have mild symptoms, some have very obvious symptoms, and some even experience dysmenorrhea, which can be said to be extremely painful. Most women will have a bad mood and loss of appetite during their menstrual period to a greater or lesser extent. So what should you do if you feel uncomfortable during your menstrual period? What's a good way to make adjustments?

Premenstrual syndrome is related to the increased ratio of total estrogen/progesterone in the body. Excessive or relatively excessive estrogen in the body causes water and sodium retention in the body, resulting in symptoms such as edema and headache. In addition, people who are usually nervous, irritable, and depressed are also prone to premenstrual syndrome.

This discomfort usually begins 7-14 days before the menstrual period and worsens 2-3 days before the menstrual period. It manifests as mental tension, nervousness, irritability or depression, general fatigue, easy fatigue, insomnia, headache, lack of concentration, memory loss, etc. Some people may also experience swelling of the hands, feet, and face, distension and pain in the lower abdomen, and breast tenderness. These mental symptoms and symptoms of water and sodium retention disappear or are significantly alleviated after menstruation.

First of all, you need to relieve mental tension and ideological burden, treat menstruation calmly, and try to feel comforted and relaxed. In daily life, we should avoid unnecessary mental stimulation, eat less salt, live a regular life, and participate in more entertainment and sports activities.

The symptoms can be significantly alleviated or even disappear. For those with more severe symptoms, sedatives such as phenobarbital or progesterone, androgen, etc. can be taken for treatment under the guidance of a doctor.

Patients with dysmenorrhea should eat light and easily digestible food within 3-5 days before menstruation. You should eat food that is easy to digest and absorb, and you should not eat too much. In particular, you should avoid eating raw and cold foods, because raw and cold foods can stimulate the contraction of the uterus and fallopian tubes, thereby inducing or aggravating dysmenorrhea. If menstruation has already started, you should avoid all raw, cold, indigestible and irritating foods, such as chili peppers, raw onions, raw garlic, pepper, strong liquor, etc. During this period, the patient can eat some sour foods appropriately, such as sauerkraut, vinegar, etc. Sour foods can relieve pain, and it is recommended to take dysmenorrhea medicine orally.

It is normal for women to feel uncomfortable during menstruation. If the symptoms are mild, generally no treatment is required. You just need to keep a happy mood and eat more light foods. However, if symptoms of dysmenorrhea occur and the discomfort is severe, you can use some medications under the guidance of a doctor to relieve it.
